Last night’s Kings loss was one of the more pathetic showing in a long time. Considering all that we Kings fans have been through, that’s saying something. But lost among the sorrow of the game, there was one legitimate highlight that deserves celebration.
With that said:

As far as in-game dunks go, this is one of the more ferocious ones I can remember this season. Sadly, it got mostly overlooked in the moment. When it happened I remember thinking “whoa”, but then immediately going back to dwelling on how bad the Kings were playing.
Well, we’ve spent plenty of time dwelling on the bad parts of the Kings today, and sometimes it’s worth taking a moment to remember that it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun, so why not celebrate a cool moment? So take a moment, enjoy it, and then we’ll get back to your regularly scheduled misery in just a moment.

It was a cool moment, but we need Les Harkless, not Moe Harkless.
Jim Les?
I still can’t get past the fact that Harkless is 6 months younger than Buddy, yet has 4 more years of NBA experience.
Speaking of dunks, Remember this?
Ugh, I hate to be That Guy, but at this point I just can’t get behind celebrating singular plays, moments or moments that come in the course of embarrassing losses. The Kings’ Facebook account does this all the time–post “highlights” from bad games, as if the actual loss didn’t happen–and it’s lame. It reminds me, in a very small way, of the ridiculous Tyreke “20-5-5” campaign the team pushed relentlessly in the midst of yet another pathetic losing season. I’m done with moral victories, singular achievements, and all of the other shades of lipstick on pigs. Ugh, I really hate being That Guy, but I am him now. Blame Luke, I guess.
Can we at least give them Sears 2.0?
Thibs would have been perfect to coach this team. NY doesn’t have a lot of talent.
But, they play hard and are accountable every night. Work Ethic. Kings don’t know what the word means.
The best Kings in game dunk ever was Ronnie Price v. Carlos Boozer, Jazz
I second that.
Great article, just wish it was not true ¹ï¸
This is additive to the In N Out v Sears metaphor. Traditional studios are hierarchical, put in the necessary deeds, kiss the right butts, and eventually you are the one delegating decisions that impact societal pop culture. However, theres also this. The Kings need this culture:

GREG RUINED MY COMMENTS!
I’ll try again, at the right article:
Well written.
Accountability starts at the top and trickles down.
I really don’t understand why Bagley is allowed to rehab away from the team. Even if he’s not in your long-term plans, it sets a bad tone and precedent towards the rest of the team. Also, even if you view him as a (monor) asset, you want to protect that asset and keep an eye on him.
That’s a strike against Monte.
Also, it’s funny that when Tyrese was brought into the starting line-up, people were quick to point out how Monte was giving input on line-ups and rotations in Houston. Maybe he suggested this tweek to Luke?
Now, my point is not that Monte is responsible for the benching of Tyrese. It’s that a good organization has clearly marked lanes, and everyoine stays in his lane, is responsible and accountable for his lane.
If Monte has input on line-ups, how much can we hold Luke accountable for failure?
If Dumars has input on basketball opps decisions, how much can we hold Monte accountable?
If Bagley is away from the team doing his rehab, how much can we hold the medical and training staff accountable?
And again it was transported to another article…
Hold Greg accountable for this travesty!
Sears 2.0?
This was good
This article is exactly what King’s ownersship and management need to read.
It all starts with Vivek. He so wants to be loved and accepted by the players, fan, and city, that he is unwilling to hold anyone accountable (including himself).
I often listen to The Jocko Podcast, and his main theme is Extreme Ownership. There is no ownership of actions, no repercussions for poor work habits and attitudes.
Like Tim said, trading players or making changes to the rotation are insignificant to solving the problem. I will start paying attention more when Vivek has moved on and someone else steps in and makes changes to promote a better culture.
Vivek hires only inexperienced GM’s so he can be quasi Bball decision maker ! Any former employee in basketball will verify ! Talk to Karl, Malone, PeteD, Vlade ,Bratz etc !
Who are some of these experienced GMs who were both proven to be successful and available for Vivek to hire? If Vivek hired an experienced available GM, would he then be open to criticism for hiring a retread?
well then he should just take control and own control. he likely has a playoff team on his hands if he follows his gut and doesnt listen to Pete D, Mullin, Vlade or Monte.
Monte has done nothing but prove that he is a joke of a GM. I will happily await any move that shows me otherwise. If we re grading on what Monte has done its absolutely pathetic. sorry, I’m just looking at the real evidence, not what I whish or what could have maybe happened. He’s had one year to make any change for the better. He made the obvious selection at 12 and then what? what a joke of a season. He changed his plan mid way through the year. he purposefully depleted our bench and then purposefully made trades to improve it 3 months later. WHAT A F@#%*!$ Joke.
Who can predict where this comment will appear?
The answer is that Prediction Contest comments currently show up in the Harkless Dunk thread!
OK, I’m going for the points ..

This was actually in the Jazz prediction thread?
If the team was actually running, maybe Walton wouldn’t need excuses.
(If I post a limerick in the Preview thread but it shows up somewhere else, does it count toward keeping my streak alive?)
Utah’s Jazz are now in the top tier;
In the league in fact without peer.
If we get in the paint
Through fake or through feint,
Our shots still have that French guy to clear!
So are we expecting the kings to play up to the jazz and compete some or get blown away by a barrage of 3 pointers while fox cant drive against gobert?
Full steam ahead with Luke “the tanker” Walton!
…comment wasn’t posted in this thread.
Why you gotta bring Necco wafers into this?!?
Why couldn’t it have been us??
Jazz ain’t music….
Jazz ain’t nothing but soul!
Yay! Same starting lineup.
Hali not starting again, yeah, let’s stick with what’s works.
Poor Moe Harkless…
Please tell me more about how he’s washed up.
What’s going on in here? And when I say in here I mean whichever thread this teleports to.
Good start
That comment was supposed to go on the Kings Jazz game thread.
What’s truly sad is, as bad as Glen Taylor is as an owner, having a former steroid-using baseball player, who has few interests other than being a celebrity, would be worse.
i think my comments are teleporting to STR…. Oh wait no I’m banned there.

Go Kings!
So I’m just testing because my posts aren’t posting
Ok, that one looks like it made it.
Better game at this point than what I thought would be.
Comments here are broke so I’m over at SLC Dunk talking mad shit!
Holmes going for 40………………..
Take a hint, Vivek.
If Metu does not win MVP of the league, the the NBA is crooked and untrustworthy.
Strange Game
The SLC Dunk thread was fun….
Posted 9PM PDT, 4/10/21 to the Kings/Jazz game thread:
Well shit.
Fortunately, I spent several years building an immunity to iocaine powder.
Awesome effort. Love the squad. Give them eight more years and they’ll be right there contending.
I can’t see the other comments…weird…perfect game to watch (not sure why I do at this point), Kings made it interesting and then continued the tank, stop pretending you’re a decent team Kings.
I looked at draft odds, sitting in the 7 or 8 spots for odds are actually pretty good, even 9 where we’re at now has a shot at a top 4 pick. Just stay in that top 9 and try to sneak into that 7 or 8 spot Kangz!
At least I tried to comment here!
Yay, a comment!
Even with the recent losses, it looks like we won’t have too many ping pong balls this year. Here’s to them bouncing our way this summer (I guess that’s about the only thing left for us Kings fans to root for in the next few months).
Thank God we are after value upgrades…but I forgot its the Kangz and trying to go up is really the best way to go down…..
No desirable free agents ever for the Kings.
Fox is motivated to go against Donovan, same draft class, wants to show he’s on his level, or better. But he should not need this to get himself going, but I guess that is what it has come to at this point of the pointless trek.
Moe Harkless was pretty good last night, I will give him his credit when due and not resort to the nicknames I assigned to him. One game reprieve for now. 🙂 And I officially declare he is better than Ariza. Even though Mitchell got 40 points, it took him 31 shots. Harkless bothered him a few times.
Man, I wish Fox could get the calls and make his FTs like Mitchell does.
Fox 71% FTs
Mitchell 85% FTs
I have been bagging hard on Buddy, deservedly, but last night he was pretty good, reduced expectations being met. If he played like this most of the year, we would be in a much better place. Much more restrained composed effort. That should be an average game for him. A veteran playing with some veteran judgment and poise.
He was only 4-13 from 3s, but most of his shots were of good quality, 7 assists vs 0 TOs too. He gets burned on defense, of course, going one direction while the man with the ball goes the other, but overall this is the player who has been MIA most of the season.
Terrence Davis continues to struggle with his shot. Disappointing but he does a lot of good things on the floor and the coach seems to recognize it. He got deep penetration into the lane and then good recognition to flip behind to Fox for 3. Plays like this. He needs to give him extra reps not take them away and the shots will start to fall.
Of course if he showed the same deference to TD so far to Kyle Guy, there would not be a place in the rotation for Davis and Wright, but thats water under the bridge. Guy will be taking his services elsewhere in about 4-6 weeks!
Metu all of the sudden has butterfingers? That is not going to help the (his) cause!
Obviously to beat a team like the Jazz, a fine tuned machine humming away, we need a sturdy wing. We need a dirty work willing PF like the highest potential of Woodward.
Who in their right mind thinks Marvin Bagley would be the difference maker in a game like this? No chance, but the best version of Woodward, the immovable enforcer with 7’1 wingspan would be just what the doctor ordered. The problem is Woodward probably cannot guard the 3 point line to check guys like Ingles. Put him on an island away from the basket and probably gets dusted. But that is what I would like to see, disproven gladly, as the season winds down to the merciful conclusion.
And between the vicious jam and last nights defense by Harkless, pencil him as starter for the rest of the year. Enjoy!
I wonder if…
Nope! Posted in the Recap, but showed up here. ¹ï¸
The value trades seem of little value at the moment !
Can I comment yet?
Change the coach and roster. If not, we’re having this same conversation. AdNauseum.
The Kings had a prime opportunity to break their playoff drought this year.
Houston and OKC blew it up. Klay got injured, Pels dealing with injuries.
Kings have been relatively healthy.
Next year won’t be so forgiving in the Western Conference.
Good morning TKH-ers!
Is this thing on?

Same shit, different year
The TANK is on and it’s not even intentional!
It was a good game actually. Just a little indecisive at the end. They folded.
This comment was supposed to go with the article about the Kings Jazz game.
The glitch didn’t happen until Mirann started writing the recaps!
Good effort, for the most part. I enjoyed this game.
Well darn. They almost f**ked it up and won.
If only someone, ANYONE could’ve foreseen that the Kings wouldn’t make the playoffs this year & prioritize building for the future instead of pushing for an unattainable goal.
One comment? What is this, SacTown Royalty?
I kid, I kid.
Go Kangz!
Who are the best coaches to replace L. Alton? Why and how would they be an improvement? What do they offer?
