Sacramento Kings assistant coach Bob Beyer is leaving the Kings to join Stan Van Gundy’s staff with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Sacramento assistant Bob Beyer is joining Stan Van Gundy’s coaching staff in New Orleans, sources tell ESPN. Beyer had been with SVG on his staffs in Orlando and Detroit.

Beyer came to Sacramento by way of Oklahoma City, but prior to that he had spent years working with Van Gundy in both Detroit and Orlando.
When Beyer joined the Kings he was known as a coach who had run film sessions and tweaked systems to improve them. It’s unclear if he had those same responsibilities during his time in Sacramento.
This move is likely less about the Kings and more about Beyer reuniting with Van Gundy. We’ll wait and see if the Kings backfill the vacancy on the coaching staff.
The marks the second departure from Walton’s staff. Igor Kokoskov also left the team, as he was taking over European powerhouse Fenerbahce. That vacancy was filled by Alvin Gentry.
Jesse Mermuys and Roy Rana remain as assistant coaches, with Bobby Jackson, Rico Hines, and others in player development roles.
Buh-Beyer.
It’s a Beyer’s market.
Stop with all the Bey-ering, you bunch of Saddiqst!
A downvote, seriously?
I mean, it wasn’t great or Tyler made, but surely enough to keep the h8ers at Bey?
Here’s another downvote, and an upvote for your rebuttal.
That’s GOLD Jerry, GOLD!

If that’s true, Walton definitely didn’t utilize him. Another underutilize personnel in this short Vlade-Walton era
Walton decided he didn’t a second guy watching the tape. That would’ve made Walton redundant.
A Breyer’s Market

Loving the bats on the masthead logo, by the way.
I wonder what those kids thought of you greeting trick-or-treaters with no pants on.
It went something like this…

Ha! Someone came in this thread and definitely doesn’t like puns!
Or bats in the masthead.
Bye Bye Beyer and Bye Bye Buddy.
Kings to get 6th or 7th pick for Buddy, use to choose Vassell.
Then Bey or Nesmith when picking at 12. Two gunners on board and payroll down $94K over 4 years.
OT: Grant gonna Grant.
Man, he has really become a caricature of himself. Good fucking riddance.
Grant is, and always has been a piece of shit. A real asshole, trying to use MLK quote. Honestly, fuck him and glad he’s gone.
Doug threw a wrench in Grant’s “I have black friends” defense, and someone is none too happy about it.
Buried in the comments…
I predict in another year or so, when his name pops up we’ll be like “Oh yeah, Grant Napear. Wonder where he is now?”
We need a photoshop of DC punching Rick Fox with Grants head substituted for Fox’s.
Move to miami, and then call DC a coward… what a tough guy.
We’ll find out after the next hurricane hits Miami.
may as well retire now. No one is going to hire his racist ass for any play-by-play gigs that is a fact
I guess Beyer felt he had nothing left to learn from Lose Walton.
And why is Bobby Jackson still on the payroll? I used to see him often coaching when my kid was playing AAU ball, but I’m pretty sure that didn’t prep him for a front office role.
I used to ask it about Peja, but I’ll ask it now about Jax: Can anyone explain a tangible benefit to the organization to keep him on the payroll?
Not having to re-key G1C after you let him go?
There would be a lot of locks to replace. Except on defense.
