Four Kings eclipsed 20 points, as the Sacramento Kings knocked off the Denver Nuggets for the third consecutive time this season with a 119-114 victory.
Despite missing Jamal Murray, Gary Harris and Facundo Campazzo, Nikola Jokic assembled one of the most dominant performances you’ll ever witness: 50 points (20-33 FG, 3-6 3P, 7-7 FT), 12 assists, eight rebounds, three blocks and one steal. However, the MVP candidate received minimal help from his teammates.
For Sacramento, De’Aaron Fox, Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes and Tyrese Haliburton all scored at least 21 points in a win where everyone chipped in with their strengths. Both teams traded blows, but the Kings exhibited immense firepower that Jokic failed to overcome alone.
The Kings opened the game with a 2-3 zone, forcing the ball out of Jokic’s hands and making Denver shoot. Will Barton and Paul Millsap received open looks, but Barton struggled to knock his shots down throughout the game. Millsap would finish the game with a 3-4 clip from deep, but in the first quarter, the Nuggets combined for a 1-9 mark. Offensively, Sacramento ran multiple pick-and-rolls featuring Richaun Holmes, whose push shot was automatic all game. De’Aaron Fox created and converted on open jumpers, pushing the Kings to an early lead. However, the Cory Joseph and Hassan Whiteside two-man game on offense stalled, and Denver closed the gap. Sacramento led 26-25.
Whiteside, defensively, wreaked havoc on Denver. During the second quarter, Whiteside had already grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots in just nine minutes. Buddy Hield’s three-point shot floundered as he went 0-5, but Hield showed promise with his passing game. Harrison Barnes continued to crush teams from deep, drilling two triples to maintain the lead. Sacramento would maintain a one-point lead at halftime, 53-52. Barnes led the way with 13 points (5-8 FG, 2-2 3P); Holmes added 12 points and five rebounds; Haliburton marshaled the bench with 11 points (4-7 FG). For Denver, Jokic garnered 14 points, four rebounds and six assists.
Sacramento continued to pound Denver with the Holmes’ pick-and-roll game and finding ways to get Barnes downhill against Michael Porter Jr., who struggled against Barnes all night. By the quarter’s conclusion, Barnes tallied 26 points (10-14 FG, 5-6 3P). Fox showed great poise with his three-point shot, coming off high screens and waltzing into open looks. His jumper was money all night. Buddy, however, was scoreless through 29 minutes. Sacramento maintained the lead after three.
Jokic made the fourth quarter super intriguing. It’s tough to pitch a perfect defensive game against Jokic’s talents, and Holmes couldn’t agree more, despite the phenomenal defensive plays he had. Jokic nailed shots from all levels of the floor. But Sacramento’s quadruple scoring punch reigned supreme, with Haliburton manifesting an excellent three-point shot yet again, drilling looks that shot Denver’s confidence. Sacramento held on despite a wild final minute, winning 119-114. The Kings are now 11-11 through 22 games.
Game Notes
Despite shooting 1-11 from the field and 0-9 from three, Hield’s passing chops were on full display. That’s not something we say often, but his seven assists were all exquisite. The pick-and-roll game between Hield and Holmes resulted in many open push-shot attempts thanks to Hield’s pocket passing, as well as how Hield swung the ball around on the perimeter.
The Fox-Hali dyad continues to shine. Despite Denver’s thin backcourt, the two excelled together. Haliburton waltzed into threes while hitting open teammates, and Fox replicated the rookie. Both guards possessed a 4-7 clip from deep, torching Denver in that regard.
Hassan Whiteside had his usual lapses, but he provided a strong interior presence against Jokic at times. Whiteside finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and an assist out of the post.
Marvin Bagley featured little in the fourth quarter, but his performance was why. In 18 minutes, Bagley mustered just three points on 1-6 shooting along with two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Denver torched him at the rim.
Next Game
It’s an abrupt turnaround for Sacramento as they now travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. The Clippers have Sacramento’s phone number from the last two matchups, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Kings respond.
TYRESE MOTHERF*CKING HALIBURTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tyrese has made me forget about Luko, or whatever his name was.
Bagley hasn’t….
Hahaha, true.
We need Whiteside to get more minutes with holmes in the lineup!
It’s nights like tonight that are the hardest to fathom the colossal 2018 draft fuckup … Pervis Bagley gets 3 points in 18 minutes (?), while Luka gets 42, 7 and 11 in a win over Golden State.
Bagley should be washing Haliburton’s car about once a week for taking all the heat off him this year.
Or paying for a billboard that says “I love Tyrese”
Oh the disrespect ð
Yeah pretty much. He’s definitely my favorite King since IT but really he might be favorite King since like Peja and Bibby. He’s just so damn good and so damn smart. And he’s so young that there’s just that excitement of realizing this is probably just the tip of the iceberg.
Haliburton is who Jordan thinks he is.
I love that he’s also got a little edge to him as well. The Kings have been bad for so long but he really doesn’t seem to care at all.
Haha…DeAndre or Eddie?
Farmar
Same. He’s my favorite since Peja.
Well clearly there’s someone here that doesn’t like Tyrese. 😛
Coach Bagley probably.
Sheeeeeeeet, the entire Pervis Bagley camp should be thanking their lucky stars that Tyrese showed up and took all the heat off of Pervis.
Tyrese reminds me of Ricky Barry. Great all around game, huge future ahead.
If you’re talking about Ricky Berry, our first round pick that killed himself after his rookie season back in the late 1980s, I hope you’re talking about his skill only and not being a huge douche bag by trying to be funny … because if you are, that’s fucked up.
Why would you assume I am referring to anything besides his skill. Ricky was so good as a rookie with bright days ahead. Why can’t there be a comparison on how good he was without using douche bag and Fucked up? I saw Ricky in person and he was so talented, he had all star potential and natural instincts- Tyrese has the same it factor. My bad on the misspelling of his last name.
This isn’t the first time I’ve heard him compared to Berry. G Man talked about it in one of the preseason games he called, and even seemed to still get choked up when he talks about the tragedy. I can imagine it had an impact on him that never really goes away.
I wasn’t watching sports back when this happened, so I only know the story from somewhat an outsider’s perspective, but from what I’ve seen of tape, I get why the two are compared. I also get why if true, outside of the tragedy, we should be very excited about this year’s 12th pick.
Tyrese is cold-blooded.
Fox is becoming a solid leader and face of the franchise.
Harrison Barnes is steady consistency.
It’s nice to have a big like Holmes that can drop 20+ if you set him up. Easy buckets.
Buddy didn’t have a good shooting night, but had one of the best games in his career IMHO. He made winning plays.
I love this team.
Yeah I sort of agree on Buddy. He couldn’t hit a shot to save his life but I thought for the most part he actually played within himself, moved the ball well and hustled on defense.
They’re becoming mentally tough. It’s an amazing feeling to know that we can execute our offense and play lock down defense in the 4th. What’s even more amazing is the other teams will eventually have the same feeling. They know we’re going to kick that ass in the 4th.
The Finisher
The Rookie
The…The Buddy (somebody help me please)
The Vet
The Rock
Jones called him Captain Clutch
Black Falcon, Captain Haliburton, Star Fox, and Sher-Lock Holmes
You get a STAMP too. What is this? Marvel Comics?
What is a STAMP? Star Fox is from my N64 days tho.. Rip Slippy
It’s 9sac8’s thing…just go with it.
Maybe he can chop it up with Mark Jones. Such original commentary.
Thank you the clarity. He still gets a STAMP though.
Sure-lock
Nah. Mark Jones gets a STAMP for that shit.
Buddy is The Dagger…if he’s hitting his 3’s. If not, he’s The Dragger
Damn right. Well stated. It’s hard to help your team win when you are shooting poorly, but Buddy did tonight. Even made a few passes that he could have legitimately shot late in the game to set up his teammates. Great team offense tonight.
Tomorrow’s game suddenly becomes more winnable
Ouch. At this rate we may get into the playoffs by attrition. Oh well, us beating teams we are supposed to beat is still a good thing and a sign of progress for this team.
This was always going to be a weird year and the Kings have thus far been extremely fortunate in the Covid/Injury department.
I’m not sure if there has been a team more lucky in terms of no injuries or Covid protocols than the Kings.
Yeah absolutely. Still credit where it’s due, they are playing well right now. And hell if they actually win the games and make the playoffs, I won’t complain considering Fox and Haliburton are carrying us right now along with Barnes.
if anything, they’ve benefited from the weirdness of the season. They got the extended break to practice when the Grizzlies were dealing with covid.
Perhaps…however not complaining or sorry for it thus far. We had our share of…’bubble’ issues last season.
I don’t think the Denver is a team we’re supposed to beat…especially three times in a row.
This is true. But They have been shorthanded 2/3 times we played them IIRC. With us at full strength I would expect us, if we are indeed a playoff contender to take advantage and win those games. The question is if this year is a fluke because of the pandemic, which leads to us playing more shorthanded teams than normal, or are the 4-12 teams just actually that evenly matched. Beating Denver 3 times points to the latter, at least at the moment.
Home Court Advantage…here we come.
Tomorrow, we will beat the Clippers, Bucs, and Chiefs.
Classic…
F* you Tim Brody!
Best ability is availability. Lets go Kings!
Yes!
Have to req Queen!
“Jokic’s final points total, if the game had gone to overtime.”

If the Kings traded Harrison Barnes now while the team is winning and didn’t get something really good in return, there would be a riot in the streets.
Or at least I would be out there. One-man riot!
This has been my exact point lately. I think HB is part of the development of TH and Fox. I hope he isn’t playing for a promised trade, his new found energy is part of the improvement. Do not trade HB, trade Bags and maybe Buddy if you get something tangible (not strictly picks or salary dump) in return. Timeline has room for a vet.
For LaVine and Markkanen????
I honestly think waiting will bring a better deal. But those guys are something for sure. Some should be contender will give something stupid for Buddy’s perceived value.
Hopefully a better deal does come along. That line up would be crazy though.
Fox/Hali
LaVine/Hali
Barnes
Markkanen
Holmes
The spacing would be insane.
Literally just bring people off the street for spot up mins.
#4 Seed
I still would like very much to trade for Oubre. Our defense would be downright grimy.
you can have him for free next year. And who would GS want… Hali not Buddy!
Look…a person can dream, ok!
Here’s a Stamp for being a dream killer.
Stamp it!
Dammit…STAMP IT!!!
That isn’t me with the Thumbs down…maybe someone south of the equator.
All good bro. There are STAMP haters amongst us.
I’m starting to be OK with moving Bagley…I still think he’s going to turn out to be a real solid player but it’s not going to happen here. He’s stuck in a lose-lose situation here. He plays good, he gets less than 20 minutes…he plays bad, he gets less than 20 minutes. I think he’s shown enough that some team would take a flyer on him and his development. It’s clear we don’t want to be that team.
HB is playing where he should as 3rd/4th best. So in that regard, I am happy for him (whether or not it is trade bait or we keep him) – HB is still the best SF since Artest?
On that note, Fox is our best PG for the last couple of decades (perhaps our best drafted PG in history) – I hope he really does start soaring like an Eagle, and this has been his turning point.
Yeah we have to establish a winning culture first and he’s a part of that.
Something tells me the winning culture’s name is Tyrese Haliburton.
its like a good mixed drink, all the ingredients TOGETHER make it work.
I’ll drink to that!
My idea for new shirt
The kid is a winner for sure. Kind of reminds me of when Baker Mayfield was drafted by Cleveland and said he didn’t plan on losing just because they had been. Sometimes it just takes someone to be a catalyst for everyone else.
We deserve to have a player like Tyrese that can do that.
The Kings are currently 11th in the west but they are 1.5 games out of the 4 seed. It’s pretty wild how bunched up everything is.
He is playing himself into getting serious return value, especially with a declining contract
I agree. HB has been as instrumental as Fox IMO for how they’re playing. I remember after we traded Shump, how we slumped. If they traded Barnes now, the team would go into a deep funk. He’s not replaceable, especially if they get a young guy who needs to learn how to play. HB is a pro’s pro.
SWEEP!
LOL … ironically the hoomans are probably trying to sweep up cat hair.
Can’t forget about how much Holmes is just awesome.
I think Holmes will come in fourth place in the MVP awards this season.
Behind Fox, Barnes, and Haliburton. Tied with LeBron, and ahead of L*k*.
But what will Bagley think of that? 😉
Marvin or Marvin?
Holmes and Haliburton are the soul of this team.
We all know what happened out there.
Michael Malone summoned some kind of dark magic and possessed Jokic’s body, and was dead-set on winning this damn game.
Post(game) Malone…
Keep it rolling Kings!
KANGZ
Missed predicting the end scores by a combined 3 points these last two games and now that Kosta pointed that out to me I’m annoyed I haven’t gotten it dead on yet.
Will, you should apply for a side gig at Six Flags!
You ever seen the Yak Woman? She’s ugly as sin but a nice gal, and a hell of a good cook.
Uncle Eddie, Christmas Vacation
I for one would like to leverage your keen skill. Can we get the over/under pick up there on the next few?
The Steal with another great game. Momentum for ROY is building with every game.
To whoever I had the conversation about Whiteside with after last game, I gladly ate my words today. He played a pretty damn good game- and it’s a damn good day when this team wins. On another note, Tyrese is becoming Mr. Big Shot and I am alllllll for it
Respect.
Halliburton is a Nuggets killer the same way Fox is to the Pelicans
It’s remarkable how effective the three guard lineup has been. Good things happen when you put your best players on the court regardless of traditional positioning. The whopping plus net rating with the below lineup is especially impressive given they are finishing games and often playing against the opponents best lineups. Hats off to these guys and to Walton for relying on them in crunch time.
Fox, Buddy, Haliburton, Barnes, Holmes.
And to bookend that, Bagley is playing himself out of the core rotation. He had 18 minutes tonight which was the same as Whiteside and just one more minute than Joseph.
I think it could be argued that Bagley shouldn’t be starting anymore but could be a more effective part of the second unit.
I would be for this as a starting lineup. I also want to see what Daquan Jefferies can do. His skillset should compliment this lineup.
That’s the really sad part. When Bagley gets traded. It will be for pennies on the dollar. Essentially, another wasted draft. Holmes is probably going to be get paid in the offseason. I would rather the Kings save their money for another Alpha.
It has got to be jarring to come into the NBA and not take it by storm like you have done at every other level. It’s got to be even tougher watching Hali not giving a shit, balling out and stuffing it down the league’s throat. Not mad at the man. Just resetting my expectations.
RORDOG or some other stat junkie…please help…my eyes tell me that Marvin is probably shooting like 14 percent this year when he goes off glass. Is that a searchable stat?
CELEBRATION-
Thumbs down or up??
I was thinking of a fourth quarter celebratory thing for Fox if/when he’s really figuring out this closing out games down the stretch…so here’s what I got:
Not sure how many of you all have heard of the Foxtrot..and before those of you who know the dance rush to thumbs down it, stay with me for a sec. I know that it’s more of a traditional boring ballroom dance BUT, what if Fox added a bit of swag to it and made it his own! A la Dames dame time moments. Just something Fox could do when he gets on a roll…
You know, have fun with it.
Tweets by WorldWideWob
Scroll down a little bit and see what Hali did in the fourth quarter
Ok…que the Debbie Downer gifs and down votes…
I really enjoyed the Kings winning tonight, BUT they once again beat a team missing core players. Tonight the Nuggets were down 2 starters, one of which is a fringe all-star.
I’m not buying anything until the squad can beat a healthy squad. I just don’t want to fall victim to the false hope that has hurt me so much over the past 15 years.
FYI, it looks like Clips will be without PG13 and PatBev tomorrow.
I hear what you’re saying but enjoy the win. They were still playing good basketball.
Buddy had the most assists tonight. Fox, Holmes, HB, and Haliburton are consistenly giving people problems.
Do you call Houston’s championships a win even though Jordan was retired?
I’m not all in yet, but I’m invested
The Kings are down Luka Doncic … but still we play on!
Could you imagine him on this team?
Only thing is, we probably wouldn’t have been in the lottery to take Haliburton, but still … crazy.
Post of the muthafuckin year!
While I do enjoy the win, you are right in the sense that it’s definitely better to tamper expectations, considering we’ve fallen for things like this in the past. We shall see what happens in the long run. But I am enjoying watching Fox and Tyrese lately.
I heard that there is a pandemic going around…it might be possible that teams will frequently be down players throughout the year. Just a hunch
Of course, but the Kings, THANKFULLY, have been exempt from that and injury. So if by some miracle they sniff the playoffs because of “circumstances” does that mean they are a good team, or do they deserve an asterix?
My mind thinks beyond this season and my mind is concerned for the future.
Yes we all know they have been lucky so far COVID and injury wise. But at this rate they won’t have a quality win until April because you put stipulations on every single one.
You said wait and see once this home stand started against good teams. Beat Boston and Denver. Neither were missing their absolute best players. They are still good teams regardless.
Im not under and illusion that the Kings are absolute playoff contenders or anything. I don’t think most on here are putting their deposits down for Kings Finals games anytime soon. But sometimes it’s OK just to give credit where it’s due.
Actually, Murray is Denver’s second best player without question. Kemba easily the Celtics 3rd best player. is a vital part of the Big 3 in Boston. Marcus Smart is better than any anyone on the Kings defensively.
Your point is what…that you know the roster and others here don’t? Im aware who wasn’t playing. I said neither team was missing their absolute best players. Jokic, Tatum, Brown all played. Monte Morris is a good player and not that big a drop off from Jamal Murray who is having a down year. Point is these are still quality teams, minus the missing pieces.
The rosters the Celts and Nuggets just played are probably better than the Kings game in and out. If I was Monte McNair I would trade my entire Kings Roster for the Boston roster that just played the Kings. Singularly to get Tatum and Brown. So yes, getting two wins against teams like that is impressive in the short term.
I gotta be honest, I think Haliburton being this good this early shifts my expectations a tiny bit. What if he’s just awesome and we’ve got another Fox level player or better?
I know I know, we’ve been down this road before but it’s at least possible right?
Full disclosure: I would still bet a substantial amount of money on this team being closer to the bottom of the standings than the top at the end of the year. But Haliburton does have me questioning myself.
Yes it could come KANGZING down any day but I’m enjoying this current streak. Let’s see how many bandwagonners join TKH ð
Absolutely! **** not sarcasm**** And if enough of the top players opt out of the All-Star game we could have multiple All-Stars ****Sarcasm****
Yeah after the Luka fiasco I realized that for my own sanity, I just needed to set my expectations to zero and enjoy the wins when they come because they probably won’t be coming very often.
I think the question is, how many healthy squads are they even going to play this year? Because right now the whole league is pretty even with the exception of the really bad teams and really good teams.
I am afraid this is a Big Reason the media is not jumping on this as a resurgent Kings team. Don’t get me wrong Hali/Fox is shaping up to be the best backcourt we have seen in this franchise’s history. Barnes is playing out of his mind.
But, When I look at all the wins and almost every single win has been against teams with key players out of the lineup: Let’s go down the list: Fultz, Issac, Anounby, Bogdanovic, Powell, Adams, Redick, Kemba, Smart, Murray, Harris. Now, tomorrow the Kings luck out again. Even though, the Clips bench is significantly better than a lot of the teams the Kings have beaten on this streak.
Put the shoes on the other foot. If Fox/Hali/Barnes miss any game, this team probably doesn’t win any of those games.
I won’t discount the fact, this team is finally showing some dog. Beating the teams they’re supposed to beat when they are shorthanded. That alone is major progress for this team But, like you, I would have much rather seen the Kings play a full strength Clips team tomorrow. If the Kings win those types of games, then the rest of the NBA will take notice.
Well we recently took a healthy eastern conference finalist to the brink and that game was so close that the ref involvement or lack thereof played a heavy part in the outcome. I would wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment if it was a team like the pelicans who have talent, but the wrong coach to lead it, therefore meaning being shorthanded is more detrimental. Pop gets praised for how he can coach pretty much any roster to a playoff appearance. The last 2 wins we had were against the 2 coaches that were conference runners up and had both coached the underdog teams to that point (see 2018 Celtics and the Nuggets a few months back). They were shorthanded, but still had talent and their teams are very well coached. I believe our team is more of a 10 seed or lower than an eighth seed and above, but honestly speaking the Kangz we have grown to know would have absolutely gotten trounced by those shorthanded teams.
I hope Denver ends up with 1st seed and kings with the 8th seed. Easy sweep for us.
Weather was just too nice, missed the game completely.
How’d our boy Bagley do, more signs of development?
LOL, I’ll give you one guess.
He wasn’t responsible for a loss?
Or a win?
LOL I was looking to be positive
Thumbs up Marty for the great weather comment
Oh yea it was a great day on the bike, just ate my way into a coma.
How did he look?
Non-existent … 3 points in 18 minutes.
Meanwhile, in Dallas, Luka went for 42-7-11 in a win over Golden State.
Hali/Fox got next. These 2 will be the best backcourt the Kings ever had. Hali needs to start. The core is officially Hali/Fox. We just need one more Alpha. We might be flirting with the playoffs this year. (Play in or 7-8 seed) But, next year we’re talking Top 4-5 in the West.
Time to strike while the iron is hot. Trade Barnes/Hield/Bjelica/Bagley for a massive return of picks and young prospects.
What you talkin about..Barnes is tearing it up. Keep him!
AND 1!!!!!
Is this Vlade’s burner?
I just saw a segment about ROY where Richard Jefferson name dropped Harrison Barnes as a source that the Kings are hoping Haliburton eventually takes over as a 1 so Fox can slide over to the 2. So your line of thinking about our core is confirmed by the organization, per the media.
Going through a losing streak where your team is playing the worst defense in the history of the NBA? It’s ok now we have Hassan Whiteside!!
I heard the Haliburton/Fox combo called the ‘war crimes’ backcourt. Obviously wildly inappropriate, but I had a nice chuckle.
Haliburton is for real tho. I can’t believe how good he is. Like, the kings got 2018 khris middleton with pick 12. That’s who is now. Mind blowing.
“They’re all right!”
Hope McNair would make a good trade that brings Bradley Beal to Sac if the Kings would want to make that next jump. That, without giving much future assets.
Doubt the Wiz do that without getting ALL the Kings’ future assets. What trade do you propose?
I think the Kings would have to offer something along the lines of Buddy/Bagley/2021 1st rounder/Future 1st rounder
For Beal!!! LOL!! Beal is going to the All Star game and the Wiz are going to get a haul. Trading for a spot shooter, Marvin Williams redux, and a mid round first would not be nearly enough.
Teams are going to unload the truck for Beal by the deadline. I can think of Atlanta, Denver, Miami, Spurs, OkC, etc.
Those teams either have lots of young talent and expiring contracts.
Kings don’t have nearly enough assets to pull a Beal trade.
Barnes doesn’t fit the Wiz timeline/Neither Bjelica.
Oh I agree we probably don’t have the assets. But that’s the best we could offer without giving up Fox/Hali and I’m not trading one of those two for Beal.
Bro we’d have to give Haliburton or fox
Clearly this is the more popular site, but I posted a fan post on the SB Nation Kings site and wanted to know what your thoughts were about it. I’m a Celtics fan coming from the POV of the average Celtics fan trying to pick your head about something, so keep that in mind when you read it.
https://www.sactownroyalty.com/2021/2/6/22270682/trade-question-from-boston
We’ve already had a discussion about Ainge’s reported interest in Barnes. See here:
https://kingsherald.com/articles/harrison-barnes-is-the-type-of-player-danny-ainge-is-looking-for/
That was supposed to be a link to an article on this site from a couple of days ago,
Harrison Barnes is the type of player Danny Ainge is looking for
Just an FYI. This site is where all of sac town royalty relocated last year, both writers and fans. CA passed a weird law about independent contracting and things got funky with SB Nation. Don’t know all the deets but this is where the real community for long suffering kings fans resides
I still go over there once in a while but it gets tiresome arguing with the same three doosh bags who still think Bagley is the key to the Kings’ future.
Saw that, but it still sucks. We’re keeping Barnes.
Nah. Ainge wants him, then pay up. We’re not making the C’s better. These proposals are preposterous.
Give up Jaylen Brown. Then we’ll talk.
You definitely get a STAMP for that shit.
There playing great but starting lineup should be Fox,Haliburton,Barnes,Holmes and Whiteside!
i’m not a fan of whiteside, honestly. He is good for a few minutes to play some solid defense, but beyond that he slow and bogs the team down. Not to say that Bagley is nearly as good as I wish he was 🙁
Your post I could argue with. Your screen name I cannot. Well played!
RIP Buddy’s streak… but maybe for the best. People will stop talking about it and Buddy can focus on team wins rather than the individual stats. After spending three quarters chucking bricks in the fourth he decided a couple of times to keep the ball moving and help his teammates get good looks resulting in a nice 7 Ast/0 TO game. If he could do that throughout the game it will keep defenses guessing and re-open good looks his three-point game. New streak starts tomorrow.
Hield was unselfish throughout the game. Five of his seven assists came in the first half.
Paying 20 mil to a guy giving you 7 assists and not much else. Buddy is laughing all the way to the bank.
He is overpaid by a bit, but he was consistently being double teamed, so if anything it’s a good sign he got those assists. We’re just fortunate we got Haliburton now to make teams pay for doing that to either fox or buddy
C’mon bro, I’m no buddy sympathizer but that’s just unfair. 20 mil also gives fox/Barnes/Hali/Holmes the floor spacing created by the gravity of a man with 3rd most 3’s made so far in the season. This was one of his better games.
Plus, the buddy – Holmes connection was sizzling! Lol, but really, it was pretty good. Holmes got like 5 or 6 push shots from that
Mostly agree, but I think a lot of those assists were from his PnR game with Holmes, which was great.
I’m more talking about him curling off screens and getting the ball beyond the arc. To me it seemed like there were shots he was taking early in the game with defenders close by that weren’t falling, but in the 4th with the game on the line he stopped taking them and went to plan B.
He seemed more focused on the win than the streak, again, a good thing.
Yesssss … this kind of game should show Buddy that he can still have a major impact on a game even if his shot is not falling … the infamous blessing in disguise.
Cause I like to move the crowd! Eric B and Rahim. Hali moves the crowd.
I ain’t no joke
Regarding Eric B and Rajiv…
Rakim, bloody bad typing- apologies.
if you haven’t already, go check out Haliburton and whitesides post game interviews. They got a strong bromance going already. Last time we had a good bromance was with caspi and cousins lol
don’t trade Barnes. don’t trade Barnes. I’m a bigger fan every single day.
I think it is because the franchise hasn’t won the title since the 1951 season. Harry Truman was in the White House. Kings fans know what bad teams and bad owners look like. If you aren’t striving for a championship then your are just milking your fans…and the teats are dry bro. If they aren’t in it to win it then what the hell am I investing my time for? Opinions may vary. Right or wrong, but I think the wisdom of the masses thinks this team, as constructed, has no chance of winning a title.
Thoughts?
Are teams resting players against us because they think that Kings are garbage? No way all of those guys were really hurt. I’m not talking about Isaac, Fultz and Smart, but I believe that Kemba and Jamal would be free to play if it was a game more difficult in theory.
I have a theory about Haliburton’s shot.
Because it’s more of an old school set shot, he’s less prone to going cold when his legs are tired, hence his early season propensity for making big shots in the fourth quarter.
I just love the guy.
Still can’t believe we got him ¦ I was positive a savvy, winning organization like the Spurs was going to pick him at 11 and was astonished he ended up here.
As for all this “Barnes doesn’t fit our timeline so we should trade him” crap ¦literally every NBA championship team ever had its share of old players, players in their prime and young players/rookies simultaneously on the roster, and I guarantee not one of said NBA title teams gave two shits about their “timeline” in getting there.
I get that we’re in the “talking head/every dipshit on the Internet thinks they’re a sports journalist” era, and that some asshole somewhere started talking about timelines a while back, so all the other copycat assholes started doing the same thing, but ¦ stop.
The reason Barnes is playing so well is because he’s just entering his prime, which should last 4-5 years barring injury.
So yeah, assholes, that 4-5 year window of one of our best players being in his prime sounds like a great fucking timeline to me.
How about we keep him and see what happens with the core of this team?
Hey, even assholes are entitled to an opinion, as your post proves.
I was only referring to the assholes whose opinions are wrong.
Your not wrong.
I equate the possibility of moving Barnes in his prime in favor of youth to the Warriors trading prime Mona Ellis for an injured Andrew Bogut. Remember how the Warriors brass was literally boo’d by their fans at center court.
Well, that move vaulted the Warriors to champions by investing in their youth in Curry, Klay and Green. Klay was a rookie and riding the bench behind Ellis. That move can be seen as a catalyst to taking the Warriors to the next level.
Now, I don’t know what the move would be regarding Barnes and/or Buddy, but could it do something similar for the Kings as moving Ellis did for the Warriors?
Kings are 20th in pace during these last 7 games. I was lead to believe the Kings needed to play fast to win.
Marvin Trashly and Hassan Bumside
You took the time to register with this site to post this?
I’m just having a little laugh lol lighten up
Yeah, just to me not very funny or clever. But if that’s your sense of wit, … fair enough. 🙂
I took the time to sign-in to downvote it! 🙂
*Marvin Bagley and Hassan Whiteside
You too???
Does anyone know a site that shows contested 3s vs uncontested 3s? I want to compare the # of open 3s Ty and HB get compared to Buddy. I imagine it is pretty revealing.
We may not be at .500 for long but getting there is a nice psychological boost, even if just for 24 hours!
Our 4-man core of Ty – Fox – HB – Holmes score 81% of points , 96 of 119. The Three Stoges, aka Buddy Yield, Marvin Bagley and CoJoSlo were a combined 3 for 22 for 14%.
We have two camps forming within the same team.
The core + Whiteside have been at a .700 win clip, good for Top 4 seed, while the Stooges have been playing at a .300 win clip, which is about as bad as you can get because the worst teams in the league usually win 25-30% of their games. The average of these two camps plus a stooge-like coach amounts to a .500 team.
I am becoming increasingly convince Buddy needs to drop 10-15 pounds, maybe 20, and he needs to do this with a sense of urgency. He is experiencing a career crisis, and yet he is yucking it up with the opponent postgame?
He was at an athletic disadvantage with limited burst and lift coming into the league and he compounded it with the added muscle and excess body fat. He can lean out in 2-3 weeks, one month tops, easy, with this simple prescription. He needs fruit for high energy demands of his job, but to shed weight he needs to give up starchy carbs, no rice, no potato, no oatmeal. Narrow your eating window to 2-3 hour , optimally mid-day, stick to quality protein healthy fats, vegetables and fruit and you can still train like a beast. You may train harder. Spend more time in the sauna, alternate with ice baths, and increase the low to moderate bike and ellitpitical.
Buddy is having a terrible season, and he and the coach seem oblivious to what to do about it, how to properly troubleshoot. It is a clownshow of oblvious phonies. We had a good trainer, a young guy with a pHD, I used to subscribe to his channel, but he went to a college team for more money.
I will bet you Buddy likes to have a juicy 16 ounce NY steak and baked potato for his post-game meal, then a slice of cake with ice cream. Buddy is not skipping dessert! Well, if he wants to get his career on track I suggest he give up the sweets, replace the potato (and bread and pasta) with fruit and vegetables.
Not my presciption for CoJoSlo: Retire, you suck! 😛
