The Sacramento Kings return home after an unsuccessful road trip to host the suddenly-streaking Washington Wizards.

Sacramento went 0-4 on its road trip and has lost seven in a row to fall even further back in the Western Conference standings. The Kings are four games behind the Golden State Warriors for the second play-in spot with 18 games left on the schedule.

Sacramento’s effort against the New Orleans Pelicans was disappointing. The Kings were sluggish out of the gate and trailed the Pelicans by 23 at the half. De’Aaron Fox did everything he could to keep his team in it, finishing the game with 43 points, six rebounds and six dimes.

Although Sacramento played much better defensively over the final two quarters, it struggled to put up points. The Kings shot below 30 percent from deep in the second half and connected on just 10-of-35 overall.

The Wizards have won three out of their last four and are two games out of a play-in spot in the Eastern Conference. Luke Walton’s squad will have its hands full with Washington’s dynamic backcourt.

Bradley Beal leads the NBA in scoring at 31 points per game, while Russell Westbrook has recorded a triple-double in nine out of the last 10 games.

As things stand, Sacramento has the ninth-best odds to win the NBA Draft Lottery. It’s unlikely the Kings can get into the top four, but they’re just 2.5 games up on the team with the fifth-best odds, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sacramento has the 13th toughest remaining strength of schedule, per Tankathon.
