Kings losing streak extends to four games with loss to Nets

The Kings couldn’t cool the Nets down from behind the arc.

The hope in Sacramento is that De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton will be one of the most feared backcourts in the NBA — and with how sharp they’ve looked this season, it’s not hard to hard to imagine that day being soon.

However, on Monday, the Brooklyn Nets’ superstar tandem of Kyrie Irving and James Harden kindly reminded the Kings youngsters that they’re quite at their level yet.

Despite a few season-best performances from their veteran role players — specifically Cory Joseph and Hassan Whiteside — and a spirited fourth-quarter rally, the Kings fell to the Nets 136-125 on Monday. The Kings have lost their last four games and have fallen out of the top 10 in the Western Conference.

There wasn’t much that separate the Kings and Nets in the first half aside from the 3-ball, which started to fall with regularity for Brooklyn toward the end of the second half. Unfortunately for Sacramento, that was only a sign of things to come.

As a team, the Nets made 27 3-pointers, which is only two 3-pointers shy of the NBA record. Harden and Irving shot a combined 15-of-21 from behind the arc on Monday.

The Kings responded with a 3-point barrage of their own in the fourth quarter led by Buddy Hield, who shot 6-of-9 from deep on Monday, but by that time, the deficit was too large for them to overcome.

The Kings will try to get back on track when they take on the Miami Heat on Thursday.
