The Sacramento Kings are trading Nemanja Bjelica to the Miami Heat for Maurice Harkless and Chris Silva, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Serbian-born big man was a key part of the Kings’ rotation last year, and he’s seen an uptick in his playing time since Marvin Bagley III went down with a fractured hand, but at the age of 32, he doesn’t fit in Sacramento long-term, which is where Monte McNair seems to have honed in his focus on.

Bjelica averaged 10.1 points per game on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from behind the arc, in addition to 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, in two and a half seasons with the Kings.

Harkless and Silva don’t move the needle for the Kings the way Bjelica is expected to move the needle for the Heat, but both players can shore up Sacramento’s defense on the perimeter. Silva, who’s in his second year in the NBA, could end up being a nice project for the Kings, too. Per 36 minutes, Silva averaged 13.8 points and 13.1 rebounds per game with the Heat last season.

If this trade is completed as presently reported, the Kings will have to get rid of one player to get back to the roster limit. Mfiondu Kabengele filled the 15th roster spot, and Delon Wright took Cory Joseph’s place, but this is an uneven move that would put the Kings at 16. Expect another move to come.
