The Kings have reportedly acquired Delon Wright from Detroit

Cory Joseph is headed to the Motor City.

The Sacramento Kings have made their second trade of the deadline, acquiring more talent, but this time at an actual cost.

Cory Joseph is on his way to Detroit along with two second-round picks for Delon Wright. Despite having four years less NBA experience, Wright is only one year younger than Joseph, so it’s unclear why the Kings thought he would fit more neatly on their timeline.

Wright is another defensive-minded point guard with a questionable jumper. At 6’5, he’s more playable in three-guard lineups than Joseph, but this is still a strange valuation for the Kings considering they have their point guard of the future in De’Aaron Fox and another ball handler in Tyrese Haliburton. Wright is in year two of a three-year deal and is due $8.5 million next season.

Sacramento was previously in conversations with the Pistons about Saddiq Bey; those talks didn’t materialize, but they may have laid the groundwork for this particular trade.

Also, watching Woj break this trade on live television is a treat.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
