A play-in spot is within reach for the Kings.

The Sacramento Kings were able to block out the noise surrounding their team and take care of business against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, narrowly beating their visitors 110-108.

De’Aaron Fox was tremendous for the Kings on offense on Wednesday, scoring 37 points on 13-20 shooting from the field and 3-4 shooting from behind the arc. But Fox’s biggest impact was on the defensive end, where he was tasked with guarding Trae Young. Young still got his, scoring 29 points, but Fox worked all night to stay in front of him.

The Kings also got solid production out of Tyrese Haliburton once again, particularly in crunch time. Haliburton ended the night with 17 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, a block and a steal in 35:33. Obviously the Kings would like to win more games with Fox and Haliburton as their starting backcourt, but as long as they’re turning in performances like Wednesday on a consistent basis, the wins will come sooner rather than later.

With a win over the Hawks, the Kings moved three games behind the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference. Their next game will be against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.
