Last week, the Sacramento Kings arrived in Orlando without four members of their traveling party. Head coach Luke Walton wouldn’t confirm who was missing from the team, but it was suspected that Buddy Hield, Jabari Parker, and Alex Len were all absent since they had tested positive for the coronavirus back in June.
Over the weekend, James Ham of NBC Sports noted that Harrison Barnes was the only other player who hadn’t been seen in Sacramento’s social media posts, leading to speculation that Barnes was the fourth missing individual, and that he too had gotten a positive coronavirus test.
Barnes confirmed that theory on Tuesday, announcing that he has tested positive for COVID-19, but that he is “primarily asymptomatic.” He remains in Sacramento undergoing the mandated quarantine procedures before he can hopefully join the Kings for the NBA restart.

Barnes was part of the individual workouts at the practice facility in Sacramento and spoke to the media about how excited he was to resume the season so that the Kings could make a push for the playoffs.
Unfortunately, Barnes is unable to do so at the moment. The good news is that Barnes says he is doing well, though we still don’t know the long-term impacts of the coronavirus. We wish him all the best in his recovery. Given his enthusiasm about returning to play, hopefully Barnes’ health permits him to do so.
There has been no update on Len’s status since he announced his positive test, but Hield and Parker have rejoined the team. The two of them should be able to participate in team practices shortly.
