The Sacramento Kings’ broadcast partner, Sports 1140 KHTK, has reportedly placed the team’s play-by-play announcer and radio host Grant Napear on administrative leave.
The Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson first reported the news on Monday, after Napear and former King DeMarcus Cousins shared an exchange on Twitter. Anderson’s colleague TJ Macias broke it all down here.

Former Sacramento players Chris Webber and Matt Barnes jumped in and called out Napear on Twitter for his reaction to Boogie’s tweet asking him how he feels about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Hey!!!! How are you? Thought you forgot about me. Haven't heard from you in years. ALL LIVES MATTER…EVERY SINGLE ONE!!! https://t.co/DfzKl3w0jm

Demarcus we know and have known who grant is. The team knows as well. I’ve told them many times. They’ve seen it. They know who he is. https://t.co/4DI4f1DGUp

Barnes didn’t hold back any punches on how he feels about Napear, who is known as “The Voice of the Kings.”
Would expect nothing less from a closet racists

Napear and Cousins have been feuding for years. Back in 2013, Boogie had some words for Napear after he ripped him during his radio show:
The two exchanged words on several occasions since then, including during the 2019 NBA Finals when Cousins called out Toronto Raptors fans for cheering when then Golden State Warriors teammate Kevin Durant injured his achilles early in Game 5.
Napear responded with harsh words for Boogie, saying, “If there is any player in the NBA that should not be talking about fan behavior, and about how to treat athletes as opposed to people, it’s DeMarcus Cousins.” (h/t Macias)

Napear’s co-host is former King Doug Christie. Napear had previously been in hot water when he defended former L.A. Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling for comments he made to a woman he was dating in 2015.
Napear apologized for his comments on Twitter, but it wasn’t enough for KHTK to change its decision:
If it came across as dumb I apologize. That was not my intent. That's how I was raised. It has been engrained in me since I can remember. I've been doing more listening than talking the past few days. I believe the past few days will change this country for the better! https://t.co/Gsh84BPBEk

The Kings have released statement on the matter, per NBC Sports’ James Ham:
Statement from Kings on Grant Napear:
“Grant’s recent Twitter comments do not reflect our organization’s views and values. We are reviewing the matter further with our broadcast partners NBC Sports California and Sports 1140 KHTK.”— James Ham (@James_HamNBCS) June 2, 2020
