Earlier this week, Boardroom TV exclusively announced the shoe deals for the 2021 rookie class, ranging from No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham to Brooklyn’s No. 27 pick Cam Thomas. Among the list of rookies that cashed in on endorsement deals was Sacramento’s No. 9 overall pick Davion Mitchell, who has signed a multi-year deal with Nike.

The NCAA and Summer League champion joins Nike along with fellow rookies Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors), Josh Giddey (Oklahoma City Thunder), Jonathan Kuminga (Golden State Warriors), James Bouknight (Charlotte Hornets), Chris Duarte (Indiana Pacers) and Moses Moody (Golden State Warriors). The deal will include both footwear and apparel.
Mitchell also joins a few of his teammates as Nikes athletes. Most recently, Tyrese Haliburton joined the Nike family this past spring after a season in which he wore custom sneakers night in and night out. In 2017, De’Aaron Fox became the first rookie to finalize a traditional deal with Nike.
So, it looks that the young Kings have followed in Fox’s footsteps (pun intended) and all three of the powerhouse players in Sacramento’s backcourt will be representing the swoosh on the court this season.
I look forward to seeing the team’s feet heat throughout that season. As mentioned previously, Haliburton had custom-made kicks almost every single night with various themes — everything from “Finding Nemo” and “The Incredibles” to Michael Jackson and “Black Panther.” Although Mitchell does not seem like the type to put the clamps on in cartoon kicks, I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing that fun flare continue to grace the Sactown court.
