Kings sending Jahmi’us Ramsey, Robert Woodard II to G League bubble

The rookies will be looking to make a case for playing in Orlando.

The Sacramento Kings are sending rookies Robert Woodard II and Jahmi’us Ramsey to the G League bubble at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, the team announced in a press release on Friday. Woodard and Ramsey were selected with the 40th and 43rd picks in the 2020 NBA Draft, respectively.

Since the Kings opted to not send their G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, to the G League bubble, Jahmi’us Ramsey is being flex-assigned to the Agua Caliente Clippers (LA Clippers), while Woodard will play for the San Antonio Spurs’ G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs. Woodard will join a handful of other notable names that have already been named to the roster, including Luke Samanic, the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft; and Tre Jones, the 41st pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Spurs will be coached by Matthew Nielsen, who had success as both a coach and player in the NBL. Nielsen was named head coach in November. The Clippers G League squad is coached by former NBA player Dee Brown.

While it’s unclear where Woodard and Ramsey will fit into their new teams’ plan, especially since they’re not technically Spurs or Clippers’ players or affiliates, they should at least get more playing time than they were getting in Sacramento. This season, Woodard and Ramsey have averaged a combined 6.8 points per game. Woodard’s last appearance came in garbage time against the Orlando Magic on on Wednesday. Ramsey hasn’t played since Jan. 9.

Their first opportunity for Woodard to make a case for playing time will come on Wednesday, Feb. 10, when the Spurs are set to take on the Memphis Hustle at the HP Field House in Orlando. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.
