Kings lose first away game of season against Mavericks

The Kings’ perfect road record is no more.

The Sacramento Kings picked up their first road loss of the season with a slow-to-start performance against the Dallas Mavericks.

So far this season, the Kings have been able to weather De’Aaron Fox’s struggles, which carried into Sunday night’s game, but they didn’t get enough from their usual contributors, Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield, against the Mavericks. On Sunday, Barnes and Hield shot a combined 9-29 (31%) from the field. Meanwhile, Fox shot 5-16 (31.2%) from the field.

The Kings managed to keep the game close despite falling behind early, but they were unable to fully complete the comeback, falling 105-99. Friday marked the first time this season that Sacramento had been held to under 100 points.

The Kings will try to bounce back on Tuesday, but they’ll see another formidable opponent in the Utah Jazz. The Jazz were unbeaten through Saturday.

All things considered, going 3-3 at the height of Fox’s struggles isn’t bad, but they need to be careful and not fall too far behind.
