Kings finish perfect preseason with win over Lakers

The Lakers had no answers for the Kings’ bench.

If there were such a thing as a preseason championship, the Sacramento Kings would have won it on Thursday night. With a 116-112 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, the Kings capped off a perfect preseason.

De’Aaron Fox led the Kings in scoring with 21 points, but calling him the most impactful player of the night would be doing a disservice to a few players on the team, starting with a few players on the bench.

Terence Davis was instant offense for the Kings, scoring 20 points on an efficient 6-13 shooting from behind the 3-point line. At one point, he scored 15 of the Kings’ 16 points while only attempting one field goal from inside the 3-point line. He was on fire, and undoubtedly the best Davis on the floor Thursday.

Davis didn’t just get things done by scoring, though. He also contributed 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Hield also ended the game with 6 rebounds and 3 assists to go along with the 13 points he scored off of the bench, and his +30 plus-minus was the highest of the game. It was a great night for the backup guards.

The next time the Kings take the court, it will be take on the Portland Trail Blazers for their regular season opener. If the preseason was any indication of how the regular season is going to go, it’s going to be a fun season in Sacramento.
