The 2020-21 NBA season is fast approaching. The league is on track to tipoff on Dec. 22, meaning franchises don’t have a lot of time to finish rounding out their rosters during a shortened offseason.

New Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair’s biggest decision is what to do with restricted free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic. The sharpshooter slid into the starting lineup in January, which led Sacramento to a 13-7 stretch before the pandemic hit. Bogdanovic averaged 15.1 points and 3.4 assists while shooting a tidy 37.2% from the beyond-the-arc.

The 28-year-old turned down four-year deal worth $51.4 million last year and is in line for a bigger deal. One team who has expressed interest in Bogi is the Milwaukee Bucks. ESPN’s Zach Lowe says the Bucks may also be willing to take on forward Harrison Barnes if it means they can land Bogdanovic.

The 28-year-old Barnes is due a little more than $60 million over the next three seasons. He averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 38.1% from deep with the Kings last season.

Barnes’ versatility allowed head coach Luke Walton to go small by sliding the veteran in the power forward position. Losing Barnes and Bogdanovic would leave a big void on the roster when it comes to wings, so depending on the return, it’s tough to see Sacramento be willing to move the pair to Milwaukee.

The one enticing thing about moving Barnes and Bogdanovic is the financial flexibility it will give the Kings. McNair alluded to having the freedom to make moves during his introductory press conference, so if he wants to blow things up and rebuild around De’Aaron Fox, a deal with the Bucks would be a step in that direction.
