Sacramento did not end the road trip how they probably wanted to. There was optimism around the defense of the roster, so much excitement surrounding rookie Tyrese Haliburton, and Marvin Bagley III is healthy and showing promise.
Yet, things change quickly in the NBA. Bryant West joined the show to talk about the impact of Tyrese Haliburton’s absence (is he already Sacramento’s 2nd best player?) and what we have seen from the Iowa State product early in this season. We break down the chances of him winning Rookie of the Year and evaluate his likely competition.
Bagley did not play the entirety of the final quarter in the second matchup against the James Harden-less Houston Rockets and Bagley’s father was not hesitant to express his unhappiness to the world on Twitter. He asked for the team to please trade Bagley ASAP, but we explain why patience is needed with the big man from the fanbase, his family, the front office, and his teammates.
The Kings Pulse podcast is available on all major listening platforms.
his dad saying this was inevitable
Daddy Bags is Lavar Ball for small market teams.
And Like LaVar, the first kid may be a bust. Can’t trade him until he gains value beyond his rookie contract anyway.
With this said….please give Cojo 10 mpg at most.
Lavar Small?
I prefer Lavar Lite.
Daddy “Little Ball” Bags
BagDad is upset he won’t be getting to help spend a max deal. All Star @hole the 2nd
Abusive relationship 80’s song lyrical throwback.
My name is Luka…the second pick should have been my floor.
Once he becomes a distraction in the locker room and on the court (and I think his high usage, me-first ball-stopping style of offense and clueless defense are a distraction if not plain disruptive) patience is not much of an option.
Fair or not, Marvin’s draft selection will keep looming over him as long as he is a King. People who thought that the firing of Vlade would put that to rest were wrong. His father is not helping things. He is sunk costs and I think it is best for all parties to say goodbye.
I have no high hopes for a significant return for Bagley, nor do i believe he will increase his trade value if he keeps playing. The holes in his game are too glaring and will take more time to fix than we have.
Yup, he has zero value right now, especially with his deal. Like I mentioned yesterday, Holmes has more value than Bags, and his is only likely worth a 2nd round pick.
You might be able to trade Bags and Buddy together for someone on a bloated super max, and use Marvin as filler, but that is about it.
Marvin and Buddy for Blake Griffin works, but that is just rearranging the deck chairs. At least it gives the Kings a clean slate after next season.
They’d have to send at least their pick this year too, IMO. Both Hield and Bagley have some positive value (even if very slight). Griffin’s nearly $75+ MM over this year and next is extremely albatross-y. Like, unprotected pick in a stacked draft level albatross-y. That said, as a rebuilding team, they don’t really have much motivation to pay to unload short-ish contracts at this point. Unless they’re absolutely convinced they can convince at least 1, if not 2, stars to sign next summer.
Kings have $66M tied up in Bags and Buddy over the next two years, plus any QO or extension they’d give to Bags AND the additional $38M guaranteed to Buddy. Combined, Buddy and Bags would easily top $100M in the coming years.
The deal would actually be the better long term move for the Kings if the future is indeed Fox, Hali, and a 2021 pick. Blake may also be a nice fat expiring to trade in 2022.
As much as I think Blake has a very punchable face and personality, he is still currently better than anything Bagley hopes to be, IMO. He’s likely add wins this year, so maybe it’s not a good thing.
Agree. I think it’s the opposite of patience with Bagely. Get rid of him before he’s injured again and really has no value.
the idea of patience w Bags is a joke. He’s crap -end of story. Move on to help the Kings improve. All bags is doing now is taking minutes and shots from others who deserve it.
Threadjack. Apparently my GhostMalone has been deleted? Greg ruined my TKH account
I can see your post, and your username. I think you’re safe.
I don’t remember if you had an avatar/profile pic before, but it’s empty currently.
Was this part of the “Your account was deleted but not actually” message that everyone got on New Year’s Eve?
Who cares about the little picture you have next to your screen name. Call Mr. Bagley Sr.
Boycott ..

Most possible trade I can think of:
Bagley <-> Monk + 2nd round pick
Reason: For Hornet, Monk is in dog-house, and he expressed frustration about playing time, also, they don’t really have some BIG in their roster.
Is it time to sign Shabazz Napier? Or Justin James needs to get some run. Something needs to happen to create offense.
No offense without Fox. Rough night.
Also-when are these parents going to wake up? It is ok to love your children while still conducting yourself as a professional. There is no other job in sports where a person’s parents feel like they have such power.
I wouldn’t trade Bagley but that’s just my opinion.
I would definately trade MB3. Not just because Daddy said so, but for some actual value? Hell Yes.
7 . He has been, to this point, very injury prone.
8 . He has a severe affliction know as Causwell’s Dribble. First diagnosed by Dr. Jerry Reynolds in the tragic case of Duane Causwell. This affliction causes a big man to do an unnecessary gather dribble which lowers the level of the ball before jumping. This dribble leads to excessive turnovers and by extension a poor relationship with officials due to non stop complaining. This serves as an explanation of your point 6.
7 . He has been, to this point, very injury prone.
What a fucking dick this guy is, getting injured! He signed a contract to play basketball, not to be injured!
If you feel the need to pick apart his on-court performance, knock yourselves out. Speculating on whether or not he’s well-liked is gossipy horseshit, particularly given that it springs from your own preconceived biases. His father is an absolute prick, and one day, III will get a divorce from him, and get on with his life, as Lonzo Ball did.
“Did you see that MBIII’s kid has Down’s Syndrome? Typical Marvin, too lazy and stupid to have a typical kid. Also, no one really likes the kid, you can just tell.”
I think that when assessing his trade value it is of note that he has been injury prone, but I’m sure you probably have some preconceived biases yourself. Please direct your disgusting commentary about anybody’s child elsewhere. They don’t have any place here. I hope you enjoy your hobby of internet trolling.
#4 if telling to me. I made a point to see his reaction after Holmes’ monster contested dunk. Everyone jumped out of their seats with excitement except one player. Guess who.
I’ve always said Bagley can be a Julius Randle of all goes well but now I think he’s destined to be a poor man version of Enes Kanter and looked how Kanter turned out. Also nobody give a fox about what Bagley the second has to say about this team. From all account his son seems to be reading social media posts a lot (I remembered someone said he had to delete his Instagram or something because kings fans keep bullying him after doncic was not our pick), so he better fixes his team Bagley shenanigans quick or he’s gone and so is his brother’s draft stock.
It is already miserable to deal with this team’s on and off court craps the last 14 years and I can’t believe we have to deal with yet another lackluster lottery pick’s entitled clown family. Look at yourself in the mirror, Bagley clan! 11 millions dollar this year for this team to spend on this awful pick up ball performance.
Bagley should accept that he could basically be Richaun Holmes at this point. Gobble up rebounds, stay under the basket, score on offensive rebounds or passes deep under the basket, etc..
…and set a solid screen.
Unlike really anything else, setting decent screens really is all about effort and buy-in to the team concept.
The Hollinger PERS stats list Richard Holmes as a 4? Same for Bjelica & Bagley. I thought we went into the season looking for a starting caliber Power Forward. We didn’t draft one, or get one in Free Agency.
My complaint before the draft, we needed a starting power forward. We seem to have the 5 with Holmes and Whiteside’s under control. It seems we still need to find someone, or is that someone Parker for this year? Next years draft will have the missing Power Forward? I also thought Tillman would fit nicely.
I do find it interesting we haven’t seen Parker at all. Honestly, I haven’t’ even seen him dressed on the sidelines. Has anyone seen him?
Whiteside is the only true 5. Otherwise we have a handful of combo/tweener bigs. Including Barnes, who can masquerade as a SF, but really only provides any real advantage (along with some disadvantages) playing as a PF. The Kings still don’t really have a true SF.
Kings Pulse: These things take time. We must show patience with Bagley.
Tyreese Haliburton: Hold my beer.
Marvin Baley , meet Anthony Randolph.
Stromile Swift, Derrick Williams, Michael Beasley, Marvin Williams ! All no. 2 picks !
I had Stromile as a late round Fantasy guy, he killed the numbers, I can see Marvin being that guy.
You are sleeping on Jabari Parker @ #2, consensus top 3 pick!
Haliburton’s last game in college was basically a month after Bagley’s last game with the Kings last season. The rust excuse is definitely a little specious.
Kings were out of it the last 24 minutes? Weren’t we down 2 at beginning of 4th or was I watching a different game?
Coach Bagley is a boob. Marvin is not going anywhere anytime soon. Deal with it.
For once I agree with his dad, just for different reasons.
At least Lavar’s kids are more talented…ugh, thanks for this situation vlade
Loks like someone here is getting directly involved with the BagDad situation. https://sports.yahoo.com/marvin-bagleys-dad-tweets-at-kings-to-trade-his-son-asap-161457829.html
At least monte didn’t draft him. Monte can discard him whenever he wants to without worrying about the repercussions of whiffing on a top two pick. He can pull what the arizona cardinals did to josh rosen when they drafted kyler murray. Now if only we can find a kyler murray to replace bagley.
