In his rookie year, Murray set the NBA record for threes made in a season, and while his shot from long distance has been less potent the last two seasons, he has improved on the defensive side of the ball tremendously. So much so the Kings are set to probably be in a world of hurt to start the season without him due to his thumb injury. The Kings currently don’t have anyone else at his size (6’8”) who can play strong defense, or even play the forward positions naturally.
Last season, the 25-year-old averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists in 34 minutes per game.
Congrats to Keegan!
Now, on to Keon Ellis and his contract situation.

Congrats, Spock! Now request a trade to get out of this shit hole!
+1: ask to go to Philly! ESPN trade machine approved Murray plus Sabonis for Embid! Lets see how deep the bottom of the void goes!
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!
At first it sounded high, but looking at comps it is about the going rate.
Glad we are paying him as if the Kings value the future, now let’s see if the FO’s roster building will follow suit!
Is this the most competent thing this franchise has done in the last 2 years?
During Perry’s tenure its actually the 2nd. Pulling Clifford (and you can argue Renaud) was a pretty slick draft day maneuver. That was slightly impressive. Keegan’s extension really seemed like a “just don’t mess it up” situation, so “hooray” for them taking a hot poker out of the fire and not accidentally sticking it up their own ass again.
Fair market value on a young 2-way wing. Low risk, IMO. That contract could end up being a steal in a few years, or at worst an undesirable deal that’s movable. $28M per year on average isn’t even half of what max contracts are currently going for. Finally this franchise is making a forward thinking decision.
If he is able to be more of a focus offensively, then things could be looking really nice. But as it is, he’s often the 4th or 5th option that usually gets pushed out of the offense.
Congrats to Keegan. Still hope he can somehow get away from here. He deserves better.
My biggest hope for this Kangz season is and has been that Keon will sign somewhere other than with the L*kers after season’s end.
The twins may be identical, but their bank accounts aren’t.
That’s because their skill levels aren’t. How weird that two people that are identical are so different.
Cool.
When will he be eligible to be traded for an aging guard?
Super happy for Keegan. Now give Keon his bag and actually play him.
