Welp, guess we have to fire Mike Brown again. Full recap coming tomorrow.

You’re welcome.
Beginning to think the only thing that can possibly save this team is the mystery of Devin Carter and a top 4 pick.
Cooper Flagg, Egor Demin, Dylan Harper could do wonders for this team. All have good size for their position. I am not holding my breath though.
I ran it 50 times, because why not?
My unofficial results were we moved up 12 times, getting the no.1 pick twice. Most were the no.4 pick if we moved up. Of the 38 times we didn’t move up, 20 we moved down to no. 9 or 10. We stayed the same the other 18 times.
Side note, the one time we ended up with the no. 2 pick……. The Warriors got no.1. I think that is what it most feels like to be the Kings.
Welp, every day that passes, I am glad I did not choose to renew my monthly League Pass subscription. What a joke this organization is, and it will continue to be one as long as Vivek is running this clown show.
It’s most likely hopeless w Vivek owning. I really hate what he’s done.
I guess the only way through would be if this is V letting McNair do it his way- which might involve Fox gone. 3 ball etc.
But how is anything possible w this Mickey Mouse org and owner?
I really feel bad for the folks who have season tickets, or who buy bulk or single games, and buy parking, drinks, some snacks, and end up spending hundreds of dollars for this. It really sucks for them
.
.
.
My wife bought me a pair of lower bowl tickets for Christmas…
As I said in other thread- V is an asshole for the way he treats fans and his employees. It’s gross really.
Petrie was indeed right calling him a “dismissive little chap.”
For sure. It is Viveks biggest flaw that Petrie saw/described -narcissism.
That flaw is the death of organizations
Probably right, but how receptive would any new owner have been to accepting advice from someone whose last two drafts resulted in adding Jimmer and Thomas Robinson?
The guy who wanted Stauskus would have loved Jimmer, no?
He’d have been aware that Petrie (and the Maloofs) taking Jimmer allowed the Dubs to take Klay with the next pick. He even referred to Stauskas as “Klay/Curry”.
Damn, was it to the Piston game after Christmas, or for a future game?
Memphis on the 3rd.
Might need to bring your new Kings gear to wear.

In 2017, the Avs were one of the worst hockey teams I have ever seen. In 2022, they won a Stanley Cup.
Let me guess. All they did was fire their coach??
I’ll be there!
I’m sorry man. I spent $1600 last year to get lower bowl tickets, parking etc. for my entire family: my wife and two kids, parents, both my siblings and their significant others, for the team to come out and lose by 50 to the Pelicans. I haven’t been to a game since. I don’t know when I’ll be at a game again. I won’t spend another penny to support Vivek Ranadive.
Dang, sorry to hear. I told my wife we’re skipping this year as well. If we go full rebuild mode I’d have no problem going. But thinking we’re contending…nah.
…and if Fox and agent demanding something showing organization is really making push- the way Vivereck fired and handled this would drive Fox out I’d think?
I canceled as well. Best decision I ever made.
I’ve said it in another threat but we need people at the game to start a sell the team chant
Just a thought. What if Vivek went to Monte and said you either fire Mike Brown or you job is on the line. Just a what if.
…The Lake Show vs The Clown Show
BLOW IT UP – it’s time
That was pathetic. This team is SOFT and relies to heavily on 3’s and tough midrange shots. Not to mention-they seem to have given up on each other and can’t stop dribble penetration to save their lives.
Derozan plays zero defense, Fox is actively trying to be traded, Sabonis is mentally weak.
Blow it all up and build with Keegan, Keon, Carter, and whatever comes back from these trades. Build it the right way.
The problem is, no matter what you do you can’t get rid of the underlying dismissive little issue running the show.
I don’t know about Keegan either. Plays defense sure but is offense is terrible. The Kings have played over 40% of the games this year and he isn;t close of coming out of his 3 point slump. It has to be one of 2 things either it’s mental or it’s mechanics. I hope it’s mechanics because that’s easier to fix. He needs to get out of this slump because it’s really hurting the Kings right now. Just maybe it’s time to think about trading him while he still has value but if this continues then his value is getting less and less.
His shot often looks flat, to me at least.
Absolutely. It is flat. The coaches and he should be working in only that.
And the O needs to run plays for him.
These coaches wasting Keegs talent forcing him to become something he’s not
Me too. That’s why I think it’s a mecanical. If so then Keegan and the shooting coach can remedy that. I’m glad someone besides me sees that.
With how passive his personality is, it seems mental. They say he’ll hit 100 threes in shootaround and stuff like that. They need to get him a sports psychologist asap.
Not a psychologist just a good shooting coach.
keep Keegan.
Why?
that’s a dumb question, sorry
That is not a dumb question.
Based on what Keegan has done this year what makes him untradeable?
we’ve done this in other threads. Keegan is a big wing who is a plus defender and rebounder. can guard 2 through 4 and can switch on some 1’s and 5’s. we know he’s a shooter. he can also hit midrange shots and finish at the rim. gets steals and blocks. makes winning plays.
what makes your question ironic is that most on this site are looking for another player like Keegan.
Keegan is exactly the kind of player we’d want the Kings to buy low on. So if the Kings sold low on him it would be the most fitting Kangz move of them all.
Lakers 59.7% from the floor with no LeBron
Huerter nearly twice as many minutes as Ellis
Fox 1-9 from 3
I thought there was a coaching change.
I for one am glad all of the Kings problems are now solved. Mavs, Sixers and Grizzlies coming up, so that should be no problem at all now that the front office has made its one move this season.
Rich Paul needs this team to fall apart in order to have more control of where Fox can go. The worse this team is the harder it is for them to get good value for Fox. In desperation mode the other teams will fleece them for Fox. Rich Paul wins because the Kings will have to give up and accept anything the other teams want in order to get a deal done. Paul will dictate which team Fox will sign a long term deal with and that team will get Fox. The Kings will get whatever else is left in the recycle bin.
I guess changing coaches doesn’t automatically make us a good 3 point shooting team. Imagine that…
No consistently good 3 point shooters, pretty much all bad. Bad defensively, this team has nothing but some guys that put up nice looking numbers. Zero intangibles or leadership. Pitiful construction and awareness of how to suceed in current NBA. Just blow it up, I could care less about anyone on this roster of losers.
Not only can’t the players defend the three they can’t defend period. Take Derozan for example. Sure he scored in the twenties last night but his defense is so bad the other teams players scored in the thirties when defended by him. No comparison. Other team’s players drive past him at will.
Fox plays defense when he wants to but how much does he want to?
Maybe I’m wrong but IMO Sabonis as much as he plays hard every night I don’t think he has a great BBIQ. A lot of his fouls are just plain stupid. He puts hands and shoves players in every game he plays. Then he holds his head like why did I do that/ Yeah why did you do that?
Kevin Huerter is almost as bad as Derozan on defense. He like Murray can’t hit a three to save their lives.
Keon Ellis doesn’t play enough. Last night he played less than Huerter who can’t defend.
Lyles has one good game in 10. He turned the ball over in the fourth a couple of times in the clutch.
The only 2 players who right now can shoot the 3 are Monk and Ellis.
What else?
I’m not even upset anymore.
It’s more comical than anything at this point. Which is why it’s funny seeing fans losing it.
“I wish I would have invested more into the forum.” … Am I doing it right?
I wish I had continued being a Bullets/Wizards fan when I moved to Cali.
You’ll be so happy when Kama becomes a King!
That should have been Kuzma
Well at least firing the coach fixed everything!
I hope this franchise loses every game for the rest of the season. I hope that every season ticket holder cancels their tickets. I hope every single sponsor pulls their advertising dollars. I hope that the arena is empty for every single game until Vivek sells the team. All of this is on him, it always has been and absolutely nothing changes until he’s gone.
The ultimate dream
I’ve been a fan of this team my entire life (turning 40 in 2 months) and I really think I might be done. I don’t know how much longer I can subject myself to this.
If things get really bad, The Kings Herald will probably be the only thing I’ll be following that’s Kings-related.
You and me both. 25+ years of being a fan, can only endure so much badness
Yeah same here. At least most the folks here understand how screwy this whole situation is.
that’s where i’ve been for years! this community is the only thing that makes being a Kings fan tolerable, esp since i haven’t lived in sac since 1988 (but once a kings fan, always a kings fan unfortunately).
Yeah, I am so disgusted with half-assed effort, that I just cancelled my YouTubeTV subscription, which I only got after being frustrated trying to watch the games on pirated streams. TKH is now my contact with this disheartening team 🙁
If it gets worse with no sign of Vivekery slowing down- I might be out as well.
If you think Monte runs the front office thing again
Same scheme so far which are shit, waaaay better rotations, still need more Keon
STAT of the night:
5 (FIVE) the grand total of 3 pointers made by:
Sabonis
Murray
Fox
Hueeter
Lyles
Derozen
on TWENTY NINE attempts
Devin Carter in his first Professional Basketball game made 6 (SIX) three pointers….on twenty less attempts.
Maybe we should hire the G League Coach cause he apparently knows how to get his players to MAKE shots.
Yeah and the big problem is how many of them are great looks
Kings get plenty of open shots. Just don’t make em. Here is the link to Devin Carter today.
I thought that was the Sacramento Kings. They did the same crap defensively (sagging to the paint for help defense and leaving 3pt shooters open).
Zero practice time between firing and game, doug couldn’t really implement anything if he wanted too
That’s right because the players have to perform.
Yes, I agree.
It has nothing to do with coaching lol. It has everything to do with player performance.
Fox plays well below his talent level. I bet he’d be amazing under a coach like Pop that could hold him accountable and would have the backing of management to do so. He’s very good but sloppy at times on offense and defense and pretty inefficient.
IMO Fox is satisfied with where he is, which is a very good player. He’s not interested in the hard work or discipline needed to go to the next level. He’s a top 30 player in the world, so that’s ok. He’s just not a #1.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he became a stud on the Spurs, Lakers, etc where he could be a number 2 and would be held more accountable by coaches and or teammates.
I’m on vacay right now. Have McNair or Vivuck said anything publicly about the MB firing?
Not as far as I know.
It would be epic if McNair would open with his first response to a question about Brown’s dismssal with: “It doesn’t really matter. It’s not gonna make anyone feel better.”
And NO CLASS, NO BALLS
Just remember you really said that.
They need to. The fans pay their salary and to not do this is a terrible way to run an organization,
DeRozan started of his press conference with this gem: “Everything felt great other than the two 40 point quarters.”
And his defense.
I miss Harrison Barnes……………………………
Why? He wouldn’t change a thing.
I’m starting to wonder if with the departure of Barnes, we lost the one leader in the locker room we had.
Fox has zero leadership skills.
Domas leads by example but it somehow isn’t carrying over (I still don’t understand why his effort doesn’t shame others in working harder). Beyond that, Domas doesn’t offer much in terms of leadership. I saw that Netflix series (The Starting 5), and he’s a very nice but quite boring and uncharismatic person.
Monk is brash and talks a lot, but doesn’t strike me as a person with gravitas and leadership qualities.
I don’t know about DDR, but he seems to be the quiet type.
It makes no difference. People act like HB is some next level vet, the same way they used to talk about Temple and Shump.
Plenty of vet leadership on the team as it is.
HB learned from the losing seasons. I’m not sure if Fox did.
Keep Barnes. Put him back at the three where he belongs. Get a four. Keegan can play some back up four and the three when Barnes is not playing.
Imagine that simple concept happening.
He isn’t going to make this team any better.
Rich Paul 0-1 as GM of the Sacramento KaNGz.
Fox is still the same with coach number six, seven, eight, and so on.
Still need a big.
Still need a defense.
Still need to hit the three.
Still need to get out of the middle school basketball IQ.
Keon still does not play. Fox clearly does not like him playing for his team.
This is it about Keon
If that is really what Fox thinks we better look out he is starting to look like Labron James. Heaven forbid.
His agent is the same clown. No need to have Lebron.
Viv-ek sucks, Viv-ek sucks
I do think it’s possible to reload and rebuild at the same time.
fox for vassell and sochan w/a first seems doable.
derozan for tucker and dereck jones jr seems doable and turns him into a very palatable 27yo djj on 9m per deal, then huerter for john collins and the first we got from spurs.
now you lock in your next coach and you roll with core pieces of monk/vassell/keon/carter at the guard spots, murray/sochan at wings and collins/sabonis at center. That’s 8 with a very likely top 10 pick to add.
monk/carter
vassel/keon
murray/sochan
collins/(pick?)
sabonis
i don’t think anything in there is crazy and the group is much more balanced around sabonis on offense and defense.
parts can be swapped obviously but something similar can be done with a smart but reasonable haul for fox.
IMO I agree. You can reload and rebuild at the same time. It all depends on Monte and what he can do. My trade would be Fox for K Johnson, Z Collins and Julian Chanpagnie. You won’t get Vassell. The 3 above are really good players and fit a lot of what the Kings need and none are starters on the Spurs roster. Collins would be a good fit as a backup to Sabonis. Johnson, a one time starter would be a good backup to Monk and Champagnie a good backup to Murray. With Carter and Ellis you now have a really good bench. Don’t forget at least 2 maybe 3 first round picks. Now you control the draft. The last thing to address is power forward. One who can rebound, protect the weakside rim shoot the 3 and be physical on the court. To get that player trade Huerter, Lyles and a first for John Collins. That puts Derozan on the bench where he belongs. Hey Derosan if you don’t like so be it. He said when he can into this organization he would do anything to win. Okay. You can now see the starters and bench. I don’t have to repeat that. PS If Derozan won’t come off the bench but IMO he will then trade him.May be Derozan for Cam Johnson. Go to work Monte. You probably are already. Hope so. GO KINGS!
At this point Keegan might wind up being Champagnie’s backup
Why does Murray play over Sochan?
Emotional attachment outweighs basketball reality?
I know he was recovering from an illness, but I have rarely been as disappointed in Domas as tonight. His fouls were just really stupid and showed zero awareness. Awful.
Fox got schooled by Reaves. He had like 3 straight line drives to the rim against him with zero resistance. I also watched Fox “go back” to transition defense with zero speed and urgency several times. Running back to your own 3 point line with urgency is a must.
The idea that Keegan and Fox are great defenders is probably alright if you use the caveats “relative to what they were previously” or “to most of their teammates” (DDR, Huerter and Monk are really bad). They are quite okay in iso D, but average at best in general.
Keegan simply can’t handle stronger, bigger guys and is very bad at negotiating screens. The screen issue is also true for Fox. Additionally, Fox plays too often to generate steals, which often keeps him out of position for his real defensive tasks, like closing out on threes. His steals are therefore a bit like Hassan Whiteside’s blocked shots. They look nice on paper but do little for winning basketball.
And even under Doug, Keon can shoot well from distance and be your only steller defender and still not play more than 13.5 minutes?
So I read that Doug was in charge of rotations and substitutions under Brown?
LOL LOL LOL.
You can’t make this shit up. That was IMO the biggest issue with Brown.
If nothing changes, poor Keon…
Where did you see Doug was in charge of substitutions? That’s wild if that’s true because that was the most questionable thing about Brown.
https://x.com/James_HamNBA/status/1873216099292193087
It seems like it was all Jordi…
I’m hoping that means he was just keeping tabs of minutes. If he was the one who was like, “Hey let’s put in McDermott in as the POA defender.” then the team is fucked.
Yeah, I would think the HC determines what the rotation should look like, and the Assistant Coach would be responsible for managing the in-game implementation
that was my biggest issue with Brown also. he’d complain about defense but not play Keon.
Domas seemed as disengaged as I’ve ever seen him. The shocked look he displays when he’s called for very obvious, and often very silly, fouls is wearing a bit thin.
Reeves and Hachimura were able to drive either past or through anyone we put on them for easy +1 baskets.
The only thing I can think of with regards to Keon is that he seldom creates for himself or others. Huerter is a bit better at creating and sets stronger screens, but the havoc Keon generates on defense, in my opinion, should earn him more playing time. But I’ve never played or coached at a high level, so I must be wrong.
He offers value offensively in that he doesn’t need the ball, or need to create shots. They have fox, monk, sabonis, derozan who can do that.
Keon gives them the space they need to operate, they just don’t find him very often for 3pt shots.
14 minutes, in a game where the team struggled mightily on defense, is simply not enough for their best perimeter defender. Getting stops must be a priority if a team wants to mount a comeback, not just trying to match shot for shot with the other team.
I would hope Doug Christie would know how important defense is.
Agreed.
I don’t think he was disengaged. I think he desperately wanted to force stuff and ended up making stupid fouls. I could be wrong though.
Does Keegan create for himself or others?
He rarely gets past his guy when he drives. he probes a bit and then gives up and makes a lateral pass.
I thought about Keegan as well, but we don’t have anyone else on the bench who can consistently provide anything close to what Keegan does on the boards (not Lyles, not McDermott, not Crowder, not I Jones).
Disagree on Domas . Was too engaged to try to make something happen and made bad fouls .
Man I was just about to say I’m tired of that dumbfounded look Sabonis gets every time he gets called for a stupid foul lol. Get serious and mean for once in your life.
If you don’t get serious and mean after someone stomps on you, you never will.
Domas plays hard but does not have a mean streak, he’s a nice guy.
He needs to work on his layups and putbacks.
Vivek’s new coach
The next game I go to I’ll be wearing my Basketball Hell T-shirt.
Chants of “Sell the team, sell the team” should ring out next home game. Vivek is a shit show. I think a boycott of the arena would send a message to the other minority owners that a change is needed.
We need “Make Vivek a Minority Owner Again” shirts.
I don’t think he’s a majority owner now
Who owns the team?
He doesn’t have a majority of the shares, he’s the managing parter. I’m not positive, but I think he owns around 30%.
So you are saying there is a chance?
I doubt it. There is likely some contractual agreement amongst all owners that he has controlling interest. I doubt the other minority owners could pool their shares and take over. I also doubt that someone could come in and buy up all the minority shares to take control. I’d imagine Vivek has first right of refusal.
He probably owns the company that owns the other shares.
I don’t know all the details, but here’s a link to a partial answer:
https://kingsherald.com/latest-news/kings-confirm-sale-of-ownership-shares-to-arctos-sports-partners/
Interesting.
Sure seems like Matina is making the staff hiring decisions and not Vivek (who is happy making bank and having a staring contest with a mirror).
The Vlade, Peja, BJax, Doug Christie (as broadcaster, then attached to Luke Walton staff and then Mike Brown’s staff, a la Ty Corbin), now Mike Bibby (broadcast and Kings commercials) and the constant updates and appearances of JWill, Brad Miller (who hasn’t been around lately), Scot Pollard (great medical story), Chris Webber’s book is in the Team Store and even this season’s throwback City jerseys (not Roy Al, though Sac is 6-13 since that introduction).
It is obvious that the decision making is not based on success, previous or otherwise, in the positions that are being filled. Glory Day Kings buddy system a sort of nostalgic nepotism – and that part is a Vivek/Matina specialty.
It’s souring and sobering to discuss this stuff.
The minority owners have no control in Vivek selling out.
Good clips from Carter in G League. When he’s brought up, whose minutes does he take? Cut back Fox, Monk, Keon (erase Colby) or even DDR and Keegan? Still a mess of a poorly constructed team.
Trade Fox and start DC.
Trade Fox and start Monk. He’s done it before. He has playmaking abilities far more than Fox and he and Sabonis really work well together. If he would average 18 to 20 points a game as he has already then the players you get in Fox’s trade will IMO far outweigh the difference between Fox and Monk.
Which ever guards suck defensively. Monk has been really bad. Huerter just has height, but he can’t defend.
Bronny put up similar numbers. Yesterday. G league means nothing.
After last night’s loss it is clearly evident what needs to happen: fire Doug Christie!!
Sick of these legacy hires. Why is Vlade still part of this org? He’s like a F’in curse.
CWebb is the only guy from the glory years to yet land a paid gig by the current Kings.
Vlade, Peja, Bibby, BJax, and Christie have all been paid by Vivek in recent years.
BREAKING: Lawrence Funderburke hired as new coach of Stockton Kings.
Webber has pride.
To be fair to Bobby Jackson, he paid his dues as an assistant coach and even coached in Stockton. He’s in Philly now as a result. Replace the name with some other generic assistant and no one would have an issue with the org giving him a shot.
We can take DFS off the wish list (not that he was going to be our savior.)
So, the Lakers got defensive help in Dorian Finney Smith and Shake Milton and shipped out Kings killer D’Angelo Russel. A decent deal for LA, I guess.
Monte is patiently waiting for his moment, I suppose.
MM is too busy firing coaches and shopping for sweater vests.
It’s ok now. We have a new coach.
You’d think he’d jump on the opportunity to trade for a smallish combo guard.
Milton is 6’5, 205lb. Not really small for his combo guard position. He would be bigger than Fox, Monk, Carter. More size! Success!
I was talking about Russell. It was a joke.
Gotcha.
Kings probably could have done that deal (trading either DeRozan or Huerter/Keon) and start Fox, Carter, Keegan, Finney-Smith, Sabonis. would look better on defense, right?
I don’t think so. I’d imagine the Nets valued Russell’s expiring $18.7M deal.
I doubt that factors into it. Nets have plenty of cap space next year, and Finney-Smith is on an expiring deal also (he’ll opt out of the last year). I’d imagine the familiarity with D-Lo factored into it and the fact that he can play the role of a scorer.
The Nets continue their rebuilding process after sending Dennis Schröder to Golden State two weeks ago. They now project to have $65MM in cap space this summer, according to Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype (Twitter link), which gives them more ammunition to pursue high-level free agents and still re-sign Cam Thomas. Their cap room had been projected at around $50MM due to Finney-Smith’s player option. -Hoops Rumors.
They made sure that the cap would be there by moving DFS, and they got picks for it. They don’t want to win this season, and might try to move D-Lo again before the deadline.
Yep the Nets are rebuilding the correct way. They are not trying to take short cuts. They correctly self evaluated that their core was not good enough to build around with their current assets.
Kings could have done this 3 years ago and would now be through the most painful part of the rebuild process.
Unfortunately, it seems that the front office still is not honestly self evaluating the talent on this roster. They feel a different coach can / will get better results.
If this thing is not torn down in the next year then the next decade will be exactly like the previous decade.
Naw man, the Nets are in asset accumulation mode. They may even try and buyout Russell or flip him again. They 100% valued his expiring deal and could care less about his scoring as they are tanking. To boot, they got 3 second picks in the deal and as Greg mentioned the other day, the Kings have just 1 future second available for trade.
they wanted a 1st rounder.
Of course they are going to ask for a higher return. It’s standard negotiating practice.
well, three second rounders would not have seemed impossible
Kings don’t have 3 2nd rounders to trade. Two of them are locked up in the Huerter deal with Atlanta.
Keon is worth at least two second rounders
So trade Keon?
If the plan is to keep Fox and Monk and the team just drafted Devin Carter, then trading Keon for a 3&D forward would make sense.
If the plan is to trade Fox, then I’d keep Keon.
and I do not consider Cam Johnson to be a 3&D forward.
I personally don’t either. He can defend a lille but definite shoot the 3 better than anyone we have now. I consider Murray to be a 3&D forward. Who realistically would you then want to trade for a power forward. How about Huerter, Ltles and a first for Jon Collins or Huerter and Jones and a first for Herb Jones and Jordan Hawkins?
IMO keep Keon.
If they don’t plan on playing him that is the smart move.
I tend to agree with that. Keon would be more valuable in a trade IF he only plays 10 minutes a game.
According to who?
dude, almost everyone on this site is clamoring for Keon to get more minutes and/or start. why are you undervaluing Keon?
I’m not undervaluing him at all. I like Keon, but to say he’s worth 2 second rounders is just opinion with no basis in fact.
If/when he is ever traded with determine his worth.
Right now he’s a role player on a stupid cheap deal. His contact alone won’t bring anything in due to matching salaries. He’d likely need to be packaged with someone else.
He would be the rare salary filler that is actually desired.
True, he’s basically on a 2nd round deal with Bird Rights. Capped out teams would love his skill and contract.
His deal is probably one in which he is the desired player but a undesirable player with a big salary is the key to the deal. We have a few of those.
I too imagine that would be the case.
Something like Keon and an expiring Lyles might tempt an apron team to give up assets if the Kings ate a deal of around $12M guaranteed this year and beyond. An example that is likely not going to happen would be Keon and Lyles for Bobby Portis
Can’t recall the Kings ever making this kind of trade
you mean, like I said in my original comment?
I agree. He has to play more IMO. If not the King’s are wasting his value as playing him a lot more minutes.
There is a reason why Keon is not playing. Something is going on. We do not know what.
Fox and Rich Paul don’t like him?
You don’t trade Keon. He right now is the only player other than Monk who can defend and shot the 3. And down the stretch in the fourth quarter when he plays doesn’t screw up. I meant Monk shooting the 3 not defending.
Monk cant defend lol…keon is the only dude on the roster that is currently doing both and can’t see minutes…baffling
And that would have come with attached salary.
Yeah, but we needed those to get rid of Davion and Vezenkov!
Yup, The Kings trade off 2nd round picks to get out of the contracts they created, whereas teams actively competing trade off 2nd rounders to add talent.
It feels like it’s been that way for years now.
We also subsidize the lifestyle of unemployed coaches.
Nets didn’t want salary on the books after this season. Kings didn’t have the contract to meet that requirement.
I mentioned a week or so ago about trading for DFS and Milton. Would have helped this team.
To be fair to the Kings front office, they’ve made the one move they’re allowed every season. Maybe next year!
They followed the rules as well. Not allowed to spend any money on luxury tax to get a power forward. No restrictions at all when paying 10 figures in wasted money on coaches that have been fired.
They can use the revenue sharing dollars from not being a tax te to cover the coach’s salary. That’s Vivek logic
I am really disappointed in Monte. The Fakers beat him to the punch with this one. Or maybe Monte didn’t want DFS but at least they did something before Monte. I think it was a good move for them. And here we sit.
I think bigger things need to be figured out right now. Are any of the core players being moved? That needs to be answered before the Kings start sending out draft capital for bench players.
Fox is on his way out.
Off topic (sort of), Just saw on Yahoo news, Dorian Finney Smith et al has been traded to the Lakers for DeAngelo Russell and draft picks. While our front office fiddles, blah, blah, blah…
Sorry, you guys were already on it. Carry on.
Hope this is true.
Ignore this. It’s fake. Flag it to mods please.
Mods – please delete. No value in this crap, and my bad for getting fooled.
CARL!!!
That’s a parody account.
Fits the Sacramento Kings.
They are a parody franchise.
Who would have guessed that?
He laid out the deal almost a year ago.
Well, there goes my first DeMar move to the Lakers, the three way with Detroit for Stewart or Utah for Collins, using the DeAngelo expiring. But there’s still the one to the Clips for the expiring PJ Tucker… you know what? They aren’t going to make any moves, are they?
Paraphrasing A Christmas Story:
No Devin Vassell sandwiches
No Jeremy Sochan soup
No Isaiah Stewart salad
No First Rounder A La King
No Hope. Just an empty zip pullover and an out-of-his-depth Silicon Valley DISRUPTER!!
Why does everyone think it s a mystery. Huerter playing a lot of minutes. Org is trying to showcase Huerter for a trade. If he’s sitting in the bench. It’s not happening. This is the directive from the front office. Pretty simple.
Who do we get from Houston for Huerter?
Jeff Green, Aaron holiday, cam Whittemore. Cam being the piece that matters, others are salary filler.
I had no idea you were a Houston fan as well. You and Selecao.
I’m not. Just use fanspo to look at trade options. Nice conversation though. I like conversations.
I do enjoy conversations. I was hoping you did not get lost in the conspiracy theories. You have more than that to offer. Please come back. Houston is not that cool.
I’d settle for Jeff Green and Jae’Sean Tate if Whitmore is valued by Houston
Huerter shooting barely 30% from long range in his last 5 games should be more likely to decrease rather than increase his value.
Yup. Hurting his value. But he has to show signs of life if they want anything decent in return.
I would think the vultures are circling Golden One right now and are throwing low ball offers on almost ever King right now.
I’m not sure I buy into the whole “showcasing a player for trade” narrative. Is there any evidence of that ever happening anywhere? I would think every GM in the league knows pretty well who Huerter is.
IF
Kevin Huerter were playing 28 mpg, averaging 18ppg and shooting 42% from 3FG, the player would be showcasing themselves. That’s not the case if the GM is the one doing the showcasing. The purpose of the exercise is to demonstrate that the slump that we all see is temporary and that this player is really worth their contract, or maybe more, and totally, unquestionable worth having on your team.
Now, I understand that in Brooklyn, besides the Barclays Center, there is a bridge available that I would like to interest you in purchasing…
If huerter was playing like that, the team would be doing much better, lol
0-1 in the Doug Christie era. Fifty games left – Sacramento must go 26-24 to best the .500 mark that many of you have set as your goal for new coaching success.
Of all the stuff to harp on, I will jump to a positive. Domantas Sabonis is amazing. He has been out with illness for a few days, flies in to join the team, late that morning and hops on the court for a double double – he did not look like his usual self, but damn if that guy is not one hell of a competitor.
He is passing Mitch Richmond, and Vlade Divac as my favorite Kings player in the Sacramento era. That guy does not take any games off. He plays his hardest every minute on the court. /Respect to #11, The Ox

I understand all the talk about trading Fox. With all the guards we have, Fox’s contract situation, and our strong need for some size, some defense, a wing, etc., we need to move someone and get a good return in players or draft picks. But if we are trading Fox, why the hell did we get rid of an actual coach rather than Doug Christie?
