The Sacramento Kings lost to the Memphis Grizzlies last night, eliminating them from the playoffs for the 15th consecutive year, tying an NBA record and setting the record for a single-city team, and tonight, the Kings get to take on the Grizzlies again. Yay!
Let’s talk some meaningless Kings basketball, baby!
When: Friday, May 14th, 6:00 PM PST
Where: FedEx Forum, Memphis, TN
TV: NBCSCA
Radio: KHTK Sports 1140 AM
For Your Consideration
Let’s be honest, tonight’s matchup against the Grizzlies and Sunday’s game against the Utah Jazz don’t really matter from a single-season perspective (sorry about the clicks, Akis), but the Kings can still accomplish some things over the next few nights. Let’s focus on those concepts.
For whatever reason, the Kings have spent the last few weeks pretending that they had a legitimate chance at the play-in tournament, rather than focusing on anything meaningful in the long-term. It’s time to change that approach, play the youth, and play them a ton. Moe Harkless isn’t gaining anything from playing 30 minutes tonight, nor is Delon Wright, but the same can’t be said for the likes of Justin James, Kyle Guy, Terence Davis, Chimezie Metu, Damian Jones, Jahmi’us Ramsey, and Louis King. Utilizing these next couple of games as a scouting tool for potential camp guys next season is the right path moving forward.
The other advantage of playing inexperienced players against a team still fighting for positioning, other than simply seeing if anyone can evolve into a piece moving forward, is losing games. The Kings are currently tied with the New Orleans Pelicans for 9th in the lottery, and both of those teams trail the Chicago Bulls by one game for 8th. Passing both the Bulls and the Pelicans would grant Sacramento a 26.2% chance at a top-4 pick, and obviously would give them a much better pick overall. Falling to 10th would shrink those top-4 hopes in about half, all the way down to 13.9%. It may be a sad state of affairs to actively root for losses (if you haven’t already been doing so), but that’s the best case scenario for the long-term hopes of the franchise.
Prediction
The Kings get crushed. Sorry, Will.
Grizzlies 128, Kings 109
Do we have to?
I mean, you guys do – and sorry about that – but why drag the rest of us into this?!
The Grizzlies are back on the rise;
The choices they’ve made have been wise.
Now that they’ve knocked us out
And removed any doubt,
Let this signal Luke’s coaching demise!
Let’s play the vets. Let’s not try for a high pick. Let’s find reasons to keep Walton. Let’s pretend Bags isn’t injured again. Yes, he’s injury prone for those who thought otherwise. Let’s pretend Bags is a star in the making and not trading vets at the deadline was a good idea.
Fucking morons. More specifically, moron named Vivek
Bagley is often hurt. His soft tissue injury is very well timed for a player who is not able to live up to the hype and would prefer to disappear.
Mamma Mia, we are the LOTTERY KINGS!
We are the lottery Kings

Part 2

Hey guys, don’t forget the Jazz game is the 6th man celebration night! … …
Nothing would surprise me less then if the Kings win their last two games and have the best record of all the teams that didn’t make the play-in toury…because Kangz.
LOL, yup. It’s our fate to be the best of the worst.
Well, there’s one point in the shitter for the prediction contest.
But Walton needs to keep his job.

Thanks for setting us back 1 decade or more
Is this a photo taken when Vlade was still GM, or more currently?
Whenever it was taken, I wished I was that bald guy, eating a bunch of cheese nachos and throwing up all over their heads.
LOL
Super Front Office, just dung.
79 comments on the last game preview. What changed?
I guess we won the last game.
You weren’t arguing about somethimg either.
We can change that!

Kings missed the playoffs for 15 straight year and the most lucrative teams want to offset lost profits by reducing revenue sharing. It was probably a banner day to bump into Matina at the office.
Here’s the list of people who have bumped into Matina on the wrong day and still have a job.
You I could really go off the deep end again but I ask myself why? I can’t stop the insanity that tortures all of us. Not only do we have Vivek destroying this team , we have the grizzlies making sure that we screw ourselves out of a good draft pick we have Walton doing the same thing and Vivek is sitting on his thrown with a woody looking at himself in a mirror. You know with all of they’ll we continually go through being Kangz fans we are definitely going to heaven when we check out.
crap
Too many beers already to get prepped for tonight’s glorious winð¡
Sigh.
I’m old enough to remember when the Grizzlies and the Suns were awful and decided to bottom out and rebuild. It was a long time ago. Must have been way back around… two years ago. You know, when the Kings could have decided to do the exact same thing.
Just pathetic how every team in the West cycles down and cycles back up.
Except one.
I’m currently listening to the Sixers as they attempt to lock up the first seed in the East. I’ll have to ask grandpa what it was like all those years ago when they purposely stunk to win, see if he can remember.
