According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Sacramento Kings are planning to waive Glenn Robinson III.
The Sacramento Kings are planning to waive forward Glenn Robinson III, sources tell ESPN. Robinson has averaged 5.3 points in 23 games this season.

Robinson was signed in the offseason to a one-year, non-guaranteed veteran minimum contract, which means this waiver will have no long-term effect on Sacramento’s cap sheet. In his time with the Kings, Robinson played in 23 games and averaged 5.3 rebounds and 2 assists, while shooting 36% from deep, but he never fully entered the rotation for Luke Walton. He had also not been with the team for the last few days, citing personal reasons, and it’s unknown at this point if that had anything to do with the coming waiver.
Although it may seem like a curious time for the Kings to release a player with a non-guaranteed salary, there are likely a couple of reasons behind the move. First, Robinson’s contract is set to guarantee on February 27th, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, which means that he’ll need to be waived by the end of today to clear waivers in time.
In addition to Robinson’s contract, he has also been outplayed by DaQuan Jeffries since Jeffries returned from injury a couple of weeks ago. In his seven games back, DaQuan has averaged 7.1 points per game, has knocked down 42% of his shots from deep, and he’s generally played at a higher level than Robinson has all season, especially on the defensive end of the floor. Buddy Hield, Nemanja Bjelica, and Hassan Whiteside have also all been linked to some light trade rumors in the recent weeks, so opening up Robinson’s roster spot would also make it easier to absorb extra players in any sort of high-salary transaction in the month before the trade deadline.
Glenn Robinson III was always a favorite in press conferences and appeared to be well-respected in the locker room, and we wish him the best in his NBA career moving forward.
Update: The Sacramento Kings have made the move official, announcing via press release that they have waived Glenn Robinson III.
I am definitely getting Woodard from this.
There’s something on your mind….looks at Andy’s ‘shooting growth’ comment on the Hali post from this morning. I see a theme here haha!
Yeah, I’m having a pretty great day.
A change is gonna come!
GR3 Waived, Fry’s gone today
https://www.wired.com/story/so-long-frys/
I do hope that someone will pick him up. He does a lot of things well, and if he can improve his shooting, he’d be nice to have on the bench. GRIII is a real pro.
More like Robindone, amirite? Hello? Is this thing working? What is this, an audience or an oil painting?
Time to call up Robert Woodard II, “The Tax Man” (W2).
Well-earned recs here– somebody pass this nickname along to the play-by-play crew!
Like I mentioned on a previous post, all credit for the idea to Mrs. OldFalcon.
If Woodard gets a block and Doug Christie says, “You’ve been audited by “The Tax Man,” then I can die a happy man.
That’s BUTTER!
How about for Haliburton, Visa, because he’s “everywhere you want [him] to be.”
Luke Walton:
“Wait! We needed more time to evaluate the lineups!”
Wish him well but though he is an NBA player its most likely as just a roster guy for insurance or to Europe or China for a bigger payday !
Simply wasn’t good enough. Seemed like a good guy though, so I hope he finds some success elsewhere
Some of the stretches were fun, but all in all he was meant to be a stop-gap if Barnes got traded or hurt. Showed that he couldn’t be.
Like you said, seemed like a really great guy and his dunks/defense were fun at points. Hoping he’s a buyout guy and gets a ring somewhere.
Between Robinson and Whiteside, Monte’s offseason moves looking very sharp
I don’t exactly think he viewed these signings as transformative.
Agree. When you sign players to vet minimum they aren’t exactly impact players.
Cojo sucks. cant hit an open shot if his life depended on it.
His defense, its ok but he kills the offensive flow. I’d rather play Guy. Even though he’s basically a jimmer fredette, at least he puts in a good effort on the defensive end.
thread looks around
Are you talking to me?
I’m thinking there isn’t going to be any additional moves until after the G-League bubble ends in 10 days and Woodard and Ramsey return to the team.
It’s just weird. GRIII played over 20 minutes per game in three of the last four games. How stupid is Walton?
That’s not a separate thread, it’s an entire website and a course of study so large that it will need to replace math or English in a school’s curriculum.
But for expediency’s sake, he’s overwhelmingly stupid.
Lol
There’s supposedly a tape on that subject but I haven’t watched it yet.
