No. Don’t feed the stupid clickbait articles at Bleacher Report.

This offseason feels soooooooo much longer than usual. Maybe because I’m actually looking forward to the Kings being good for once.
Can it be October already?
Of fucking course not.
I seen that article yesterday and immediately went “it has to be bleacher report” and I was not shocked at all to see that it was. They are the Bill Simmons/Colin Cowherd/Skip Bayless of sports writing and should never be taken seriously. It didn’t stop me from getting mad about it though lol
Their whole thing was basically how great Domas was during the regular season, and got schemed out in the playoffs so that negates everything else… The man has been playing well for a few seasons now, putting up similar numbers to what he did last season. Anyone with a brain who actually watches basketball knows how ridiculous it is to have him on that list at all, let alone the MOST overrated player.
Multiple time all star, all nba, mvp votes, I can go on and on about his accolades but to say overrated is insane when he’s making less money than Lamelo Ball who can’t seem to even play half a season in his career. There’s 50 players I’d put over him personally for that list. The man was a huge factor in doing the impossible, making Sacramento a playoff team again. I will never tolerate any Domas slander ????
It’s unfortunate that BR has become clickbait at this point. Couple that with not having Twitter/X tweets embedded into their app any longer, BR is pretty useless.
Yes they are and this is clickbait, but there is definitely an issue in the playoffs with Sabonis. If he can’t make a midrange his value to the team drops drastically.
The Kings cannot win a championship or get far if he doesn’t correct this. I believe he can??
I’m with you on Sabonis and his playoff performance, it was disappointing. I’m hoping it was due more to injury than anything else. But he’ll have a lot to prove next year in the playoffs, assuming we make it.
In the context of this team….
Sabonis is the difference maker that led to wins……on this team under rated.
Therefore, on this team Fox is over rated because without Sabonis…. Fox is alone again this team is the same pile of dog feces it was.
Just to play some hypothetical devils advocate, If Sabonis wasn’t here, Haliburton likely would be. But let’s say mike Brown is still the coach and all other players from last season are exactly the same.
They would be better than dog feces. At worst, dead fish level.
……….and they would still be shopping Fox trying to keep Halliburton.
In more important news, Mark Jackson was ousted by ESPN/ABC. Not having to listen to that moron during the playoffs / Finals is a win for all NBA fans.
Sounds like the lead announcing crew will now be Breen and Doris with Doc joining them for the Finals. Doris and Breen should be an awesome combo.
In more important news, also:
The Sacramento Kings have sold out of their their season tickets for 2023-2024
????
I saw this BR article and sadly read it. However it allows me to have an educated opinion of it. My assessment… it was complete horse shit. What a stupid article in general but even worse when you read in their words how amazing Domas is. The article is contradictory, no basis in logic and no reflection on their very own word. Sad really. It’s absurd. Over rated is someone like Jordan Poole. It’s an absolute joke that Kawhai Leanord and Derozan are on the list as well. An actual league MVP is over rated? Missing games or not kawhai is not “over rated”. He’s delicate at worst. Over rated though is just stupid.
one other thing, if it’s acknowledged and supported by statistics that every rotation player on the kings had the best season of their career because of Sabonis then… how in gods name could he be over rated? If anything he is under rated for his impact to a team. So stupid.
He didn’t play amazing in the playoffs. He just played good. The kings needed amazing and he wasn’t able to give them that. They schemed him perfectly. Domas, along with the coaching staff did not do a good job of scheming against the scheme. I actually put more blame on the coaching staff than I do Domas. He had so many opportunities for wide open looks from the elbow or just inside the free throw line and he barely ever took the shot. It’s not that he was taking 10 elbow jumpers a game and was going 1/10. As I recall he rarely looked to shoot that shot/didn’t want to or was trying too hard to run the play that was called even though it got blown up. Just take the shot, he’s absolutely capable. If he works on it and gets close to Chris Webber level good at it then he might just become unstoppable. If you’re a 27 year old who’s been in the NBA for 5 seasons and made two all star teams and the thing you need to work on improving is 15 foot jumpers from the elbow, I think you’re in pretty good shape. It seems like an area that’s fairly simple to improve on if you’re that good at basketball. Just saying.
If BR had Domas as a top 5 player previously in the NBA than he is over rated . If BR would place him in the top 20 than probably not . BR is now just click bait .
It’s funny, I was just at work thinking about how Sabonis might be the most underrated player in this league, but for sure top 5. He’s Jokic without the jumper, but with more physicality. And then like an hour later, I saw this article haha they also had Dillon Brooks at #2. Besides the voters that made him second team all defense and the Houston Rockets, I have no clue who is overrating him right now. He seems to be over-hated and a scapegoat for a star players love for guns in public settings, not over hyped. B/R has been rough for a minute and seems to keep going that way
Damn solid point on Dillon Brooks.
Pretty silly.
the guy being traded here has turned a lottery team to a potential contender
anyone, like Hughes, who mentions such stupidity have only a 7 game playoff reference against elite bigs and didn’t watch his mvp candidate (nba.com/bleacher report) season.
Fox is a bit overrated, in the context of impact, but Domas unequivocally is Jokic lite and the straw that stirs the drink of the team
I didn’t expect this ridiculous article to energize our Chronic Fox Doomers into crawling out of their holes, but that’s on me for not assuming that everything would be the same as it always is.
Last season taught you nothing. In his career, Sabonis won exactly four playoff games in a weak-ass Eastern Conference before settling in with Fox. Basketball is not a zero-sum game. One plus one can amount to more than two.
As a general note, it’s amazing how many Chronic Fox Doomers we still have around here. After feeling the misery of a Kings first-round exit, they at least had the silver lining of enjoying a first-round exit for Fox.
Fox is good but Sabonis is the difference maker. 4 playoff wins in the weak ass East……far more than zero in any division or league. By the way….the weak ass East also owned Fox and his teammates.
Did they, tho? Like maybe the 3 or 4 top teams, sure.
Ok, so I just looked it up and we went 16-14 which is kind of the opposite of the weak ass East owning “Fox and his teammates”, which is an… interesting way to describe them. Not so surprising if you were… say… a fan of some other team completely, for example.
Mole.
In about five years we only played the Eastern conference teams a total of 30 times?
Not sure that is how the NBA schedule works?
How could anyone know that you were talking about the last five years unless you specifically said so?
You’re cherrypicking through your own ambiguousness.
Any reasonable person would have assumed you were talking about the last year, since that’s what everyone else has been talking about.
How could anyone know I meant only one year?
You are cherry picking my own ambiguosness (which aint a word). The post I responded to referred to career playoff wins for Sabonis…..more than a single year.
For Fox’s entire career, which is longer than one year, this team has lost. 4 playoff wins (in his entire career by the way) in the East is way more than Fox has ever won.
This team, which includes Fox, was nothing before Sabonis showed up.
Ox was clearly more important to the Kings success in the regular season and Fox was clearly more important in the playoff series. They were both awesome last year, previous to that, their careers were underwhelming in terms of impact on winning. They have each other now so who cares.
That explains why the ball was always in Sabonis’ hands at the end of games, and why he won the first-ever Clutch Player of the Year award.
The need to take sides when we are talking about teammates who are both all-star-level players is beyond my understanding. They are, both of them, better players together than separately.
Not. A. Zero. Sum. Game.
What was Fox? A dithering talent leading a team to nowhere?
I don’t think anyone discounts Fox’s clutch play, or playoff play. But that’s ALWAYS been the issue with Fox, uber talent and low motor.
That works when you have an actual engine of the team in Sabonis, but you actually need an engine on the team
Fox is an auxiliary player. Fox is the fancy icing and Sabonis is the cake
Ah, of course. What a fantastic take.
Fox certainly got better when he finally had some talent around him, which finally happened last season. And other than Joerger, has he had anything remotely resembling a qualified head coach before Mike Brown?
Sabonis, by and large, has had better talent to play with over the course of his career, even if they weren’t exactly the ’98 Bulls.
Fox’s numbers may dip here and there next season, and I look forward to reading about how you knew he sucked the entire time. May as well start writing it now, no need to delay your own gratification.
NBA should pair Doris Burke with the prolix, loquacious, likes-to use-alot-of-big- words-and-then-define-them-for-the-uneducated Mark Jones. Then I will stop watching.
Pair Mark Jackson with Mark Jones and you have the most annoying combo in NBA announcing history.
THEREGOESTHATMANWHOKNOWSTHATNBAMEANSNEVERBROKEAGAIN
Doris talks far too much and Jones tries too hard to be witty and hip . Prefer Breen and Jim Jackson since both focus on the game .
