with Jones on PBP it feels like I’m watching the rare national game for the Kings, so in that sense it’s definitely a weird feeling
I’m watching the Blazers telecast. HORRIBLE. The colour analyst (Richard somebody) is always whining about something, or responding sarcastically.
Everything else political aside, Grant Napear was an amazing play-by-play, and with Jerry Reynolds at the wing, they were the best part of the Kings organization.

The defense was not transformed during the off-season.
Defense is effort. Sure, they’re scheme’s. But, you can’t coach D.
Looking like last season on Team D. Fox’s shot looks bad. Real Bad. I was expecting him to come out and put his imprint on the game. Not liking what I see, so far. On the positive, Hield is blowing up his trade value.

The defense is in mid season form that’s for sure. The offense looks better so far though I guess. This team is going to be pretty bad though I’d wager.

Aren’t we saying that every year. It’s only one preseason game. It’s only 10 games in. It’s only 40 games… Ad nauseum. C’mon. John Wall and Boogie Cousins have been injured most of the past 2 years and they came in made an impact on Game 1.
Nobody going to respect Fox from anywhere Between mid range mad deep. He has to attack and look for the assist but teams will be satisfied with fouling Ofx because he’s not a good free throw shooter. He’s just kind of got weird problems as a good player.
Does NOT look like an All Star. His outside shot looks awful. It’s only one game. But, I was expecting to see some new wrinkles and some uptick in this game. He looks abysmal so far. It’s only one preseason game. So, no fire alarms, yet. If he’s playing like this up to the AS break, then this Max contract is going to hurt for years.
always was an overpay but a franchise like the Kings gotta do what they can to keep one of the rare lottery picks of theirs that actually turned into a good player

It’s nice to have a legitimate professional doing the PBP, versus some hokey catchphrase-heavy Bozo the Clown.
90% of the Kings’ offense is ugly. Just like last season.

Positive development: Buddy Hield isn’t dribbling nearly as much.
And when he has dribbled, he has generally done so with purpose.
That’s really the only positive.
There haven’t been many.
The one positive to me so far is that Hield looks great on offense.
So maybe we shoulda kept Harry and let Bjelly go?

I’m happy for Giles. Going to a real organization with a real coach is going to do him a world of good.
Got out of basketball hell and now his career can truly thrive. Very happy for him
Anybody worried about the Kings being a little too good this year… should not worry about that.
Trading away Hield, Holmes, and Barnes will ensure a Top 3 pick at this rate.
We will have to send a pick with Barnes for someone to take him and his contract.
Either fox refuses to listen to a shooting coach or they are too afraid to tell him but if he simply extended his shooting arm all the way his shot would have more consistency. It’s really the only glaring technical issue with it.
He is what he is…
How many seasons has Fox been in the league? We’re no longer talking about a rookie or second year player. It’s painfully obvious. Fox shot 29 percent from 3 last year. Good teams will double Fox to keep him from penetration. Knowing he can’t shoot. Fox is very quick. But, he doesn’t possess a lot of muscle or heft. I am not sure who you compare him too at this point. He’s not a physical specimen, like Westbrook. Westbrook also has the Lion DNA. Leaves it all on the court every night. John Wall is fair comparison. Even though, Wall impacts the game on multiple levels.
He over-flexes his shooting elbow. Has since college. It results in a fling shot that robs him of his natural touch.
He needs to slow it down… “Slow it down big man”. – Luke Walton….’s dad.
Halliburton has showed good anticipation and quick hands in passing lanes.
And the missed shots have all rimmed out, and when he’s dribbling it feels like he’s got such poise and patience to find the open player….I’m liking what I’m seeing so far
Haliburton has looked real timid on offense but I’ve loved what he’s done on the defensive end

Some first preseason game overreactions-
Defense did not improve, especially vs. perimeter PnR 3’s
Fox is not a good shooter and building a team around him is like building a team around Russell Westbrook
Barnes Defense looked good and Hield’s shot was rolling
Glen Robinson III looked way better than Jefferies on both ends
Haliburton is definitely not ready but needs more minutes to build confidence because he did show flashes
SHOULDVE MADE GILES FEEL MORE IMPORTANT. THE FACT THAT HE LEFT FOR A LOW SALARY NUMBER IS ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING.
The Kings may be more fun, but losing always sucks.
I imagine the feeling was mutual with Harry leaving. Both parties wanted to go in a different direction.
Fox will never be at the same level as Westbrook was in his prime. A triple double machine. Westbrook is a first ballot hall of famer. Despite, never getting a ring. Westbrook may be past his prime now. But, he played with a ferocity and intensity that Fox doesn’t have in his DNA.
Harry Giles will be the next Hassan Whiteside! I welcome his future return to Sacramento 10 years from now!
Doug sounding better next to a real PBP guy, I’m looking forward to watching the Halliburton, Ramsey, and Woodard grow. Just need to move Buddy, Barnes, Holmes, Joseph, Parker, and Bjelica.
It’s also painful obvious that James and Guy have no business being on the floor for very many minutes (like numerous Vlade draft picks).
I’m going to assume your comments are apolitical, and for whatever reason you didn’t appreciate Grants talent. But he was a fine PBP guy and talk show host
