The deal involves multiple players and a whole slew of draft picks, and includes the Cleveland Cavaliers for good measure.
Reporting w/ @RamonaShelburne: Brooklyn’s acquiring James Harden in a three-way deal with Cleveland. Caris LeVert, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, four 1st round picks – including Cavs’ 2022 first via Bucks — and 4 Nets pick swaps to Rockets. Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince to Cavs. https://t.co/qM0ZDH4dH3

Sources with @ramonashelburne: Brooklyn sends three unprotected first-round picks — 2022, 2024 and 2026 in deal — plus pick swaps in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027. The Rockets get Cleveland 2022 first-round pick via the Bucks.

This is an absolutely huge haul for the Rockets. Despite Houston seeming to lack leverage given how Harden has publicly burnt bridges, the Rockets still got 4 first round picks and 4 pick swaps.
In a follow up move, the Rockets are turning around and sending Caris LeVert to the Indiana Pacers for Victor Oladipo.

This story is still developing but we will update as we learn more.
Wow! What a haul
Wow…
We couldn’t get in on this though?
I’m afraid we’re going to be asking ourselves that question a lot this season.
obviously there could be other permutations of this trade, but I’m not sure how they fit into this one as constructed. They don’t have the cap space to replace Cleveland I don’t believe.
Thanks, I am not a cap guru at all.
actually according to tradenba, it appears as though the trade would go through if the Kings sent Bjelly to Houston. The problem is that Cleveland also threw in Milwaukee’s FRP. I don’t think the Kings should be sending out future firsts for a player like Jarrett Allen unless they plan on making subsequent moves to send Holmes and Bagley elsewhere.
I don’t know why, but I was hoping McNair could’ve used his Houston/Morey connections to include Buddy or another piece from Sac to facilitate a Harden trade if he went to Philly.
Kings should offer Hield to Rockets for Bucks first and a few of those swaps. Start Halliburton.
Throw Bagley in there as well.
I will gladly take Christian Wood with the picks
Unfortunately, Christian Wood is more valuable than any of the guys you just named.
Maybe the Kings can do a trade that sends Bagley to Houston. A Wood + Bagley frontcourt would be kinda interesting
Bagley and Cousins is something I now want to see.
Damn, we’re all really pissed at Bagley these days.
I meant Buddy + Bagley for Christian Wood and picks. If we could have snuck in on this trade and nabbed Allen/Prince and a draft pick, that would have been amazing too.
If you’re getting Wood there, you probably aren’t getting picks as well. He’s the best player in the deal and is locked up on a team-friendly deal. Not to mention his best position as the same as Bagley’s. And, of course, Dipo plays Hield’s position. Obviously, the Rockets will be making more moves, but I don’t really see where Heild at $20+MM fits on their current roster with Oladipo and Gordon.
As for Allen/Prince, yeah, I was pushing them (mostly Allen. Prince as acceptable useful filler) as part of a potential deal for Hield or Barnes before the season.
I would do Buddy for Eric Gordon and a 1st. But we may actually win more with Gordon so maybe not.
Wish the Kings could have gotten in on this deal. Nets are going to need a big man now. Holmes is cheap, but what does Brooklyn have to offer for him?
TLC + Claxton? And maybe a 2nd.
We already have a Speedy, if not in name.
Tries to insert pic of TLC girl group…. fails and gives up:<(
Scrub
I was thinking like Whiteside and/or GR3 + a second for Shamet… Swipa no swiping ð¦
Rockets are going absolutely wild with trades and I keep looking to see if the Kings have gotten involved.
I think that Houston just got well.
Except that cancerous wart Cousins is still there to win the ejection trophy this year.
James Harden, traveling as usual.

This ð…this right here, made my day.
Hilarious
Soooooooo good.
Best laugh I’ve had all week. Thanks.
This is delightful.
Oladipo is a free agent after the season, I can’t recall if UFA or RFA.
The thought of Kevin “Burner Account” Durant, Kyrie “Burning Sage” Irving, and James “Burning Bridges” Harden on the same team.

If only it were the Knicks instead of the Nets!
Woulda been a +Dolan.
It’ll be a fun team to watch implode.
Said a Kings fan.
Nets GM will soon be fired…
How do people get so swindled…jeeeez
but the ring is his to keep
Won’t happen
Midtown you sound like Vlade.
You are way more confident than I am. That team’s going to be ridiculously tough, if everyone’s healthy come playoff time.
This just in… Trump decree’s two basketballs are now allowed in the NBA…. As long as that team follows him on
Twitter….Facebook….Parler…. MySpace?I’m sorry two insurrectionists found their way here to downvote you.
With the recent events in DC, I think it is a poor choice of word to use insurrectionists in your comment!
🙂 🙂 🙂
I think Harden’s really the wildcard here. But I suspect they’ll figure it out.
I’m getting Brooklyn-related deja vu.
Good for LeVert, I think he’s going to really thrive with Sabonis & TJ Warren. I’m friends with one of his aunts from college, and they’re just a wonderful group of people. Putting him into Oladipo’s role should be an easy fit.
I like Oladipo in Houston with Wood & Wall, since he’s able to play point or off-guard, and defends like crazy.
I have no idea what’s going to happen in Brooklyn. None. There’s only one hundred percent of Use to go around, and they have three guys that will use ninety percent of it. I don’t think the Nets are going to be a fun watch.
Correction…*98%
I damn near want to go on record and say that NO ONE else will score. Those 3 together will average 140 and lose in the first round. Harden ain’t that dude to me in the playoffs. Maybe Durant & Kyrie “Monk, Chief, Flat-Earther, Uncle WTF his name is” Irving can carry them in the playoffs.
There is NONE chance they lose in the first round, unless two of those guys are hurt.
I haven’t heard this many people worked up over “there’s only one basketball” since Durant-Curry-Thompson, or LeBron-Wade-Bosh.
I like what the rockets did with both the Harden and Westbrook trades. They will be competitive in the west and have draft picks for the future. Sounds like a win for Houston.
The Nets could become very tough to watch with all these high usage players. We are about to find out how good Steve Nash will be at managing personalities and how creative D’Antoni can be with the offense.
Crazy day.
The Pacers are the secret winners in this trade. A Brogdan/Levert backcourt is a dream backcourt of mine. He’ll fit in perfectly (and better than Olidipo) with that roster.
I agree. I feel like the Pacers now have one of the better-balanced rosters in the league.
Brogdan, Lavert, Warren, Sabonis, and Turner is solid.
It sure is.
Yeah I’m feeling what the Pacers are building.
To think when Sean Marks got the job as Nets GM they had nothing, the previous GM had traded the future to the Celtics to help start the legend of Danny Ainge as the “Genius” GM. The Nets have built up this roster and have now seemingly made potentially a similar trade to win it all Time will tell at what cost
“Hosuton”, we have a problem…your spelling.
Too much concern over what Hosuton and New
DumpterfireJersey are going to do. I am wondering about Buddy to Sixers, Boston, Atlanta or Bags to Miami, Milwuakee. Those teams are on the clock.Buddy to Sixers, I am all for. Give me Thybulle!
I can’t imagine Miami would want Bagley. Precious already looks like a better prospect. I honestly have no idea which team would want Bagley, but with John Collins unhappy in Atlanta, I hope we can somehow make that happen.
Someone will take a shot at Bag, Maybe he can go to big (out of date) man camp in Detroit
I can’t help but think this will end like the Nets-Boston trade did where the Nets end up paying for it for years, unable to rebuild, build or anything. The three stooges will likely be gone from the Nets within a few years as their eyes wander to their next destination.
Player empowerment or player entitlement?
LaQueen started this trend and now we have these players ruining franchises just because they feel like it. My NBA fandom lessens every year due to the entitlement, and antics of players like Beard, Kyrie, KD, AD, LBJ…
I think Durant and Harden will stay long term. They’ll stay competitive at least. Kyrie will be the one that leaves.
He may have already left!
LBJ got all the teams he went to at least one championship, which is the ultimate goal. The man is literally a guaranteed trip to the Finals. I bet if LBJ came here during that timeframe no one in this fanbase would complain if it resulted in a chip. Not one team gave up half a decade’s worth of 1st rounders to get Lebron on their team. And they retained the rights to all of their lottery picks post-Lebron. That AD trade was the biggest blockbuster trade on a Lebron led team and they got an immediate return on investment: a championship, a superstar in his prime locked up on a max deal, and a Lebron extension. But you are spot on with the rest of your statement. I just feel that out of all those players Lebron has a right to be entitled given his track record and how he is probably worth 10x his contract to whatever franchise he plays for.
I sense TGN has other issues with these players beyond their overwhelming talent on the basketball floor.
Yes and when you think about it, his complaints all apply to Kawhi. The KD/Irving came through free agency and the Nets CHOSE to trade for Harden. Lebron went to the Fakers in free agency and CHOSE to trade for AD. They didn’t need those moves to happen as a precursor to them being signed. Kawhi is the current poster child for the negative type of entitlement given the rumors/investigations surrounding his signing to the Clippers.
It’s odd how you didn’t bring up Kawhi though. He literally did what you said to the Clippers. They pretty much traded away this decade for Paul George just to bring in Kawhi, at HIS request. And now Kawhi is going to opt out this year, with no guarantee of staying.
You must enjoy watching losing basketball.
If you think LeBron started this, you haven’t been paying attention long. Really, if you want to point at a specific player, you should probably be looking in the Big O’s direction.
The softest move was KD going to the Warriors by a landslide
KDs was the most cowardly decision I’ve ever seen “superstar” make
Is this really a win for the Rockets? I would’ve waited for the Sixers to implode and trade for Ben Simmons.
Only time will tell.
These teams giving up loads of picks and swaps in these trades may end up in some horrendous situations within a year or two.
I just think a 27 year old Ben Simmons in 2024 is worth more than a 2nd pick who may or may not be a Bagley. Although, I am really discounting the potential roster construction the Rockets can go through by sucking the next 2-3 years.
It almost sounds like I’ve been a fan of a basketball team with 15 years of poor roster construction and high draft picks.
Looks like Bkn paid the per pound price for Larden.
You’ve seen it all when DeMarcus Cousins calls someone out for player decorum.
Poor KD…:
Phenomenal get for Houston. They weren’t going anywhere any way. Unload a malcontent (very talented one) for so much draft capital. And they added Oladipo. He’s at least 70% of Hardens production and younger.
The haul they got is unbelievable…and Brooklyn will regret this move.
Harden is a cancer (despite his talent). No one enjoys playing with him and he won’t change his game to fit in, he requires other people to mold themselves to something that works for him.
Just from the Kings perspective, this deal really helps potential trade suitors for Bjelica, Whiteside and GRIII. Quality bench units might be other challengers play to create some separation from the pack. And or Brooklyn themselves calling the Kings now they gutted the bench. Maybe not all of them can be dealt, and it might just be for some 2nds but this deal I think only helps the Kings market for their quality expirings.
