Sacramento initially signaled its intent to re-sign Jeffries when the team extended a qualifying offer worth $1.5 million to him at the start of free agency, keeping him a restricted free agent. The specific details of the contract have not been reported yet.
Jeffries joined Sacramento on a two-way contract at the start of last season where he played in Stockton and began to turn heads. In Stockton, the 23-year-old forward averaged 16.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks with a 46/34/71 shooting split. In our season review about Jeffries, Stockton Kings head coach Ty Ellis praised Jeffries’ work ethic and commitment to learning the different nuances in the game.
The 6’5″ product from Tulsa featured for Sacramento in the Orlando bubble when he impressed during the three scrimmages leading up to the seeding games. Jeffries played in seven of those eight games, averaging 6.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists with a 52/29/83 shooting split. He displayed his defensive versatility and toughness against players of all sizes and showed off his athleticism on offense too.
Jeffries and Robert Woodard II, the 40th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, are two forwards with good upside who could become members of the core going forward.
Jeffries represents the second signing for Sacramento who will be on the roster following Hassan Whiteside’s one-year signing Wednesday.
Wasn’t this reported a few days ago or was that merely Jeffries signing the QO, while they worked out this extension? A little confused on the order of events here. Can anyone clarify?
He signed the QO a few days ago. The actual extension happened today, so it seems.
Quite happy the Kings actually re-signed a guy who represents a step in the right direction in terms of development success in Daquan Jeffries. And it’s quite a bit of money for a guy who is not guaranteed a spot on any roster which is awesome for Daquan Jeffries, I’m sure.
But I’m just thrilled the Kings aren’t paying out the nose for players like Jeffries which is a nice change. And Jeffries is fun to watch.
Well, 14 men to the roster and a fresh start. I’m hoping for all of the following: Halliburton impresses and proved to be the steal of the draft; Woodard and Ramsey turn out to be hidden gems; Fox continues on the superstar path and Bagley get on the All-Star path; Jeffries continues to scratch his way to an NBA career, perhaps joined by James; and Hield, Barnes, Holmes, Bjelica, Whiteside, Joseph and even Parker play well enough to earn a decent trade return or prove they’re part of the future. Lastly, I look forward to watching it all no matter what happens as part of the Kings Herald community, which I hope lasts a very long time. Happy Thanksgiving all.
That’s the dream right there. Record be damned, I’m excited to watch a ton of young guys get the minutes to prove themselves this year. Hell, throw in Kyle Guy while we’re at it. We’re gonna suck but at least it’ll be fun and interesting with reason for optimism. More than Kings have delivered since Joerger.
I have no clue who Jeffries is, but sounds like he’ll assist the tank whilst developing.
Hustle!
Well deserved. Happy for him.
Frank Kaminsky?
Just saw that but doesn’t he offer similar to what Nemanja does but less efficient at it?
Frank the Tank. It is only appropriate!

Going for the big man bargain bin in free agency I see. Not sure he could even be developed into a tradeable asset by the trade deadline.
I think Kaminsky is sort of an insurance guy or acts as our stretch big once Bjelly gets traded during the course of the season.
After Whiteside, well actually even before lol, I hoped for:
Bell 6’9
Kaminsky 7’0
Maker 7’0
Vonleh 6’9
He offers size and can stretch the floor. I’m happy with the one year deal.
As long as these are 1 year contracts, getting Whiteside and Kamisky doesn’t bother me. The team lacked size so I understand the signings.
I love DaQuan- brings the energy and effort. So strong, gets after the boards- I hope he splits time with Woodard backing up Barnes. And that his hustle rubs off on everyone else!
