The Sacramento Kings announced Friday that Emanuel Terry was waived. The move was the final roster cut the Kings needed to make prior to the start of the season next week.
Terry will remain with the Kings organization and play under Bobby Jackson with the Stockton Kings.
Terry was a standout on the Kings' summer league championship team in Las Vegas as a constant source of energy and effort every time he touched the floor. Terry is an athletic big that plays a somewhat similar brand of basketball as Richaun Holmes.
Thanks to his strong play, he was rewarded for his efforts with an exhibit-10 deal with the Kings and a training camp invite. The exhibit-10 distinction allowed the Kings to retain his G-League rights if he were to not make the active roster.
Terry played last season in the G-League bubble for the Agua Caliente Clippers. Terry also has experience in past years playing overseas in Turkey, Serbia and Israel.
With the number of big men on the Kings roster, it was unlikely he’d make it on the final roster, but it’s encouraging to see he is sticking around with the organization in Stockton.
The Kings now have the league maximum of 15 guys on their roster plus their two-way contracts, Louis King and Neemias Queta.
With five days until the season opener it will be interesting to see if the Kings make anymore tweaks or if this is the roster we will see on opening night against the Utah Jazz.
