De’Aaron Fox takes over in fourth quarter as Kings beat Pelicans 118-109

Zion Williamson who?

Take a bow, De’Aaron Fox. After coming two points short against the Miami Heat on Saturday night, Fox made sure the Sacramento Kings were going to come out on top against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night.

How, you may ask? By nearly outscoring the Pelicans in the fourth quarter.

Fox has taken over games before, but not like he did on Monday. In the fourth quarter, Fox scored 17 points on 7-13 shooting from the field and 2-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line. The Pelicans, as a team, scored 21 points on 7-15 shooting from the field.

Fox ended the game with 38 points, 12 assists, four rebounds and a steal. Fox has scored 30 points in two of his last five games. The Kings are 4-1 in their last five games.

Because of the competition at both guard spots in the Western Conference, it’s unlikely that Fox will be an All-Star this year, but he’s certainly played like on as of late. It’s only a matter of time until he’s actually rewarded with an All-Star appearance.

Marvin Bagley III also had it going offensively on Monday night, but unfortunately he was ejected in the third quarter for arguing with officials. In Bagley’s defense, the calls were atrocious.

With a win on Monday, the Kings are 2.5 games back of the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference and two games back of the No. 10 seed, the latter of which would qualify them for the play-in tournament. We’ve seen how quickly this team can lose their flow this season, but hopefully they have enough of these spurts to where they can feasibly contend for a playoff spot.
