This is it folks! This is what we’ve all been waiting for! Switch off those radios and step away from those streams that may or may not have the FBI knocking down your front door, because Tuesday night the excitement, the intrigue, the majesty, the true brilliance of watching Sacramento Kings basketball… can be seen on colored television. That’s right, you read this correctly! Tuesday night’s game against The Los Angeles Clippers will, in fact, be broadcast on your television set. Radios have static! Yuck! The internet is for millennials and hackers! How does one even purchase a “league pass”, and won’t Johnny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie just steal my identity if I try? Don’t get me started on the kind of fan that actually go to games in those dusty, drafty old barns! Why don’t you just grab the old clicker and your TV Guide Magazine (for reading during commercials, obviously) because television is the new, hip, exciting way to experience your favorite sports teams in action!

When: October 18th, 2016, 7 pm PST

Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA

Television: CSN-CA, ESPN

Radio: KHTK Sports 1140 am

A Couple Things to Watch for

Minute Management: One of the first things that will be interesting to see is how Coach Dave Joerger treats this game. Will he see it as a test run for opening night, and have the starters play heavy minutes, or will he seek out the opportunity to rest as many of the veteran players as he can before the long and arduous slog known by many as “the Kings regular season”? Will this game feature heavy minutes for Darren Collison before he heads off for his eight game suspension, or will Ty Lawson get the starter’s brunt of the minutes as he prepares to start the first eight games of the regular season? How Dave Joerger stagger’s his players minutes will be an interesting tell into how he’ll treat the season moving forward.

The New Guys: One of the worst things that fans inexplicably have to miss out on when the NBA decides not to televise all preseason games is not being able to have that first look at a team’s new toys and how they fit into the system. So far, many Kings fans have not been able to see how the Kings have used starting shooting guard Aaron Afflalo in post up situations, or how Anthony Tolliver was splashing three pointers with a defender in his grill, or Matt Barnes doing Matt Barnes things against a fully realized Warrior squad. Regular fans also haven’t gotten much of a chance to have their opinions altered on any of the rooks in their first extended time out on the court since summer league. Tuesday night, the Kings last preseason game, is also only the second opportunity to see the Kings through legal methods, so if the organization is looking to hype up their fans at the dawn of the new season, they better hope the viewing public all brought their special hype monocles to watch tonight.

Prediction: Both ESPN’s and CSN’s feed of the game are going to be cut right at tip-off. Not due to any sort of weather, or technical error, just because the organization has decided to fully embrace the dysfunction and thinks it would be funny to pull the carpet out from their fans once again. The Kings will come out looking like a bunch of ball boys, and Blake Griffin will beat the life out of the Kings in the first half. Doc River’s will give in to the cartoon voices in his head and play Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers together, so the Kings will counter with, well, competent coaching. Guess which wins out? Kings roll.

Kings 112, Clippers 103.
