According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Kings are signing both Ade Murkey and Damien Jefferson to contracts that will eventually be waived on Thursday so that the two can join the Stockton Kings for the upcoming season.

Both Murkey and Jefferson were on the Kings' summer league roster and will continue to be a part of the organization in Stockton. Each played pretty sparingly for the Kings in both the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League games.

The 6-foot-5 Murkey played in the G League bubble last season with the Iowa Wolves and averaged 7.1 points per game and shot 35.5% from three. Murkey played his college ball at Denver University and averaged an impressive 18.6 points per game on 40% shooting from three as a senior during the 2019-20 season.

Jefferson, who also stands at 6-foot-5, played four years at Creighton and averaged 11.9 points and shot 34.8% from three during his senior season in 2020-21.

The Kings recently cut both Matt Coleman III and DJ Steward from the training camp roster. Both Coleman III and Steward could be headed to Stockton for the season as well.

It is going to be exciting to see how the Stockton Kings perform and develop this season under new head coach Bobby Jackson. If Jackson and that staff can develop some of the guys into NBA players, it would be a major boon for the Kings organization.

The Kings currently have to make one more cut before the season begins next week.
