Kyle Guy, DaQuan Jeffries could join Kings in Orlando

The Kings also have a roster spot they can use to bolster the end of their bench.

The Sacramento Kings have 16 players under contract, including a pair of two-way players in Kyle Guy and DaQuan Jeffries.

Under normal circumstances, Guy and Jeffries’ seasons would end on the final day of the regular season because two-way players aren’t eligible for playoffs unless their contracts are converted to standard NBA contracts. While Guy and Jeffries could still ink a partially guaranteed NBA deal before the season ends, it will no longer be a requirement for them to play in the postseason.

According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, the NBA will permit teams to bring a maximum of 17 players to Orlando, Florida. The increased player limit is an effort to have more players available in the event that someone on the team contracts the coronavirus, gets injured or doesn’t make the trip to Orlando altogether.

With a 16-man roster, the Kings can bring one additional player with them to Orlando in addition to Guy and Jeffries — and the pool of players that they’ll be able to choose from got bigger on Thursday.

Now, the last thing Luke Walton needs is more players to integrate into his rotation, but it wouldn’t hurt for the Kings to have some reinforcements on the bench, especially when you consider the luck (or lack thereof) they’ve had with health this season.

Who knows? — maybe DeMarcus Cousins would be interested in returning to Sacramento and leading them to their first playoff berth since the 2005-06 season, like the prophecy foretold in 2010.

Haha jk … unless?
