Last week, Marc J. Spears of ESPN reported that the NBA and NBPA reached an agreement that would allow players to replace the names on the back of their jerseys with a social message from a league-approved list of social messages. The list includes the following social messages, according to Spears’ report:
NBA players decided against using the names of victims of police violence or racially-motivated attacks out of respect for the victims’ families, according to a separate report from Spears last week. Players will be permitted to change their jerseys back to their names after the first four nights.
