The NBA season is on its way to resuming play on July 31 in Orlando, and the Sacramento Kings will be there, too, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on Wednesday.

The NBA’s Board of Governors has a scheduled a call for 9:30 a.m. PT on Thursday with “the intention of approving the league’s plan for a 22-team return.”

Per Woj’s report, each of the 22 teams will play eight regular-season games to determine playoff seeding. In addition to the 16 teams already in playoff position, the Kings are joined by the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and Washington Wizards who will all be battling it out for the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds on either side of the bracket.

At the end of the “regular season,” if the No. 9 seed is less than four games back, there is going to be a play-in tournament, per sources to ESPN. If they are more than four games back, No. 8 makes the playoffs.

As of right now, the latest possible date to host Game 7 of this year’s NBA Finals is slated to be October 12. The plan following the finals is that the NBA draft and free agency would “follow in sequential order.”

For the plan to officially get pushed through, the Board of Governors requires a three-fourths passage of the 30 NBA teams. The expectation is that all teams will “fall in line” leading to a majority ruling in favor of the return to play.
