The Sacramento Kings, present and former, continue to do good work for the community.

Sacramento’s 2017 first-round pick Justin Jackson, now of the Dallas Mavericks, hosted “Battle of the Blues: A Call of Duty COVID-19 Relief Tournament” on Thursday, April 23 with teams from four major college basketball programs: North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, and Villanova. Jackson captained UNC, De’Aaron Fox led Kentucky, Seth Curry — another former King! — commanded the Duke team, and Jalen Brunson helmed Villanova’s squad.

Fox was joined by fellow Kentucky Wildcat Tyrese Maxey (a potential lottery pick this season), 2020 Kentucky commits Isaiah Jackson and Terrence Clarke, and a professional gamer named Zeno. His Wildcats lost to Curry’s Duke team in the first around, which also included Grayson Allen, Tre Jones, and Cam Reddish.

Jackson’s team of former Tar Heels Brice Johnson, Marcus Paige, and Brandon Robinson beat Brunson’s Villanova group with Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Hart, and Eric Paschall. Jackson and Curry, the two Dallas teammates, met in the final with the Duke team emerging victorious.

Allen was named MVP of the tournament, which was streamed on Twitch. Jackson’s event ended up raising $6,755 for coronavirus relief. Donations were made to the Mavs Foundation COVID-19 Relief Efforts Fund.
