Alex Len will join the Sacramento Kings in Orlando on Thursday night, according to head coach Luke Walton. Len tested positive for coronavirus late last month and couldn’t travel with the team until he cleared NBA protocols.

“Alex is flying to Orlando tonight,” Walton said after practice on Thursday. “I think he gets in sometime around 11 o’clock tonight, and then he’ll go into the protocol, as far as entering the bubble when he gets in.”

Walton added that there is no update on Harrison Barnes, who announced on Tuesday that had also he tested positive for coronavirus. Barnes is the only Kings player that hasn’t been cleared to travel to Orlando, but he’s hopeful that he’ll be able to eventually.

Like all players, Len will need to return three negative coronavirus tests upon his arrival to the Walt Disney World Resort in order to resume basketball activities with his team. Then, Len will have to play catch up with the rest of this team, who have already been in Orlando for a week.

“My feel is that we’ve probably got a good amount of work to do as far as conditioning and legs,” Walton said. “You know, he hasn’t done anything at least since he came in on that mandatory report date of June 21, so it’s been a while. He’s a big body. You know when you’re that size, we’ve got to make sure that we get his legs and his wind back before we throw him in any contact type of drills.”

Len has appeared in nine games for the Kings this season, and 6.6 points on 61.9% shooting from the field, and 1.4 blocks per game in 16.7 minutes per game. According to Cleaning the Glass, the Kings give up 18.4 less points per 100 possessions with Len on the floor, which is in the 100th percentile among players.

The Kings acquired Len in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks in February.
