There’s good news and there’s bad news. The good new is that, for the first time since Jan. 2 and just the fifth time this season, the Sacramento Kings held a team under 120 points. The bad news is that they still lost, and by 19 points.

Despite a strong start to the game, the Kings fell to the Clippers 115-96 on Wednesday. The Kings have now lost their last four games, which is their longest losing streak of the season, and eight of their last 10 games.

The Clippers technically started pulling away in the second quarter, where they outscored the Kings 36-27, but because the Kings won their first quarter 29-25, Los Angeles only led by five points at the half. The third quarter is where the Kings lost the game, as has been the case for most of their games this season.

In the third quarter, the Kings gave up 34 points, many of which the Clippers scored off of turnovers. The Kings also had a hard time chasing the Clippers’ shooters around, which isn’t good against any team, but especially not against the best 3-point shooting team in the league. For the game, the Clippers shot 45.7% from behind the arc, which is almost two percent above their season average.

The Kings were able to match the Clippers shooting, making 13 of their 28 attempts, but they had no answer for them on the defensive end. Sound familiar? It should, because it’s been the same old song and replay all season and it was played out a long time ago.

The Kings will be back at it on Friday to take on the New York Knicks. For everybody’s sake, let’s hope their losing streak ends there.
