The Kings have had an up-and-down start to the season, but the highs have been incredibly enjoyable, and that’s something to celebrate heading into the second half of the league year. With that in mind, let’s relive some of the best moments of the first 36 games.

Note: These moments are only going to come from wins because that’s how I compartmentalize. If you have any favorites from losses, feel free to share them in the comments!

Buddy Hield ruins Denver’s opening night

Tremendous effort by the Kings to finish this one out, and probably the most fun game to watch from start to finish all season. The last minute of this game was pure pandemonium, including De’Aaron Fox’s block, Nikola Jokic’s turnover, Harrison Barnes’ missed dunk, and then the final tip-in.

Richaun Holmes rejects with two hands

Holmes is 10th in the league in blocked shots; incredibly, 1/8 of them came in this game against Indiana. It was a ridiculous feat at the time and even more so on rewatch. All of the rejections are impressive, and the ones in the second half are timely since they all came in the final five minutes.

If pressed to pick a favorite, it would have to be the two-handed packing of Aaron Holiday (the second block in the clip below). I can’t get enough of Doug Christie’s chuckle when he sees the replay. You know something’s good if Christie is at a loss for words.

Tyrese Haliburton reads the passing lanes

This happens every night. Legitimately. One of the standouts came against the New York Knicks, when you can see Haliburton eyeing R.J. Barrett’s next move all the way down the court. Not only does Haliburton get in the way of the crosscourt pass, he takes it to the house with some flair.

The Kings were on a four-game losing streak at the time. This win — combined with the ensuing break thanks to the Memphis postponements — allowed them to reset. Haliburton finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks in the victory. Truly a Renaissance man.

Pick a De’Aaron Fox fourth quarter

Fox brought the Kings home in four straight games against New Orleans, Boston, Denver, and the Clippers. Here were his fourth-quarter scoring totals in those contests: 17, 13, 7 (Tyrese Haliburton had 12 in that period), and 12.

My personal favorite performance came against the Clippers, because Fox did everything. His jumper was flowing, and he got to the rim at will. He finished over Ivica Zubac — and he even blocked Zubac right at the basket earlier, though that came in the second quarter. Tremendous run for the franchise player.

Then again, Fox spinning past Zion Williamson and fooling him with the pass fake was also quite the highlight.

Harrison Barnes ends the losing streak in Detroit

After losing nine in a row, the Kings really needed a win, especially against the worst team in the Eastern Conference. Even so, Sacramento was trailing entering the fourth quarter and needed to rally, and this Barnes stepback when he was switched onto Mason Plumlee essentially sealed the game. Barnes has had a great season, and he’s been able to shine in clutch moments too, as he did against the Lakers for the team’s most recent win.
