The Sacramento Kings extended their losing streak to eight games with a 123-111 loss to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. They’ve now lost eight consecutive games on two separate occasions this season.
The Kings competed for most of the game, but they spotted the Wizards a 19-point lead in the first quarter. Not only that, but they allowed them to score 42 points in the first quarter. Per 100 possessions, the Kings allow 119.1 points in the first quarter. The only quarter they allow more points in per 100 possessions is the second quarter.
If you want a positive takeaway from this game, it’s that the Kings set a new season-high in steals led by Tyrese Haliburton, who set a new career-high in steals with with six steals. De’Aaron Fox had five.
But, to be honest, the Kings don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt, especially not from their fans. They’re bad, and there’s no reason to believe they’ll get better before the regular season ends. The good news is that there’s only 18 games left. Their next one will be against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.
