De’Aaron Fox saves Kings from another disappointing loss

Fourth Quarter Fox saved the day on Wednesday.

De’Aaron Fox did everything he could to make sure the Sacramento Kings didn’t extend their losing streak to three games on Wednesday, and fortunately for him, his efforts didn’t go to waste this time around. Behind another dominant fourth quarter performance from Fox, the Kings were able to get the first win of their east coast road trip on Wednesday, beating the Washington Wizards 121-119.

As is usually the case in games between two sub-.500 teams, Wednesday night’s game was tough to watch, particularly in the fourth quarter. Not only did the Kings’ offense grow stagnant in crunch time once again, but the Wizards suddenly found their rhythm and made what was a nine-point game into a nail-biter. The Kings had an especially hard time containing Russell Westbrook down the stretch, which probably had something to do with the fact that Fox, Hield and Holmes were in foul trouble. In fact, Holmes fouled out with 1:40 left in the game.

The Wizards were in foul trouble too, though, and Fox made them pay for it every time he attacked the basket by drawing free throws and making them in the clutch. He ended the game with 28 points after a slow start. The Kings had six players end the night in double figures, including Tyrese Haliburton, who started in place of the injured Marvin Bagley III.

The Kings will look to string together a more consistent performance against the Bostom Celtics on Friday. Tip-off will be at 4:30 p.m. PT.
