The NBA and the Sacramento Kings announced today that the investigation into Luke Walton has concluded. Walton was accused in April 2019 of allegedly committing sexual assault, harassment, and unwanted physical contact several years ago when Walton was the coach of the Golden State Warriors.
Walton’s accuser declined to participate in the investigation. More than 20 people were interviewed in the course of the investigation, and after investigators reviewed all of the available evidenced, they concluded there was not a sufficient basis to support the allegations against Walton. The full release can be read here. The announcement concludes by stating that the matter is considered closed unless new evidence becomes available.
Walton’s accuser is currently suing him in civil court, which could take years to conclude if it even sees a courtroom.
This does not conclude guilt or innocence, but establishes that with the information available and the lack of cooperation from the accuser the investigation could not make a conclusion that Walton acted as he was accused.
