There have been rumors for months that Vlade Divac would be bringing in Peja Stojakovic to assist him in the Sacramento Kings front office, with Vlade himself confirming that an offer had been made. Vlade brought Peja to Sacramento to advise him at the start of Free Agency but Peja soon returned to his home in Greece and the matter was left up in the air.
Today, Peja has finally taken the offer and is coming back to Sacramento. The Kings announced a front office update today, naming Stojakovic the Director of Player Personnel and Development as well as the general manager of the Reno Bighorns. In his new front office role, Peja will be heavily involved in scouting domestic and international talent. It's no surprise to see Peja return to the franchise at this time, as he and Vlade are incredibly close from their time playing for Serbia and in Sacramento.
Along with Stojakovic's hire, the Kings officially announced the hiring of Roland Beech, who has been named the Vice President of Basketball Strategy and Data Science. Beech is replacing Dean Oliver, who led the analytics department for the past year.
Divac also has a new title, switching from Vice President of Basketball and Franchise Operations to Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager. Interim General Manager Mike Bratz moves back to his title of Assistant General Manager. For the time being, it appears as if the Kings are going forward with Vlade, Bratz, Peja and Beech as the front office leaders.
Welcome back Peja!
