The Sacramento Kings will be bringing back one of their G League standouts. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports DaQuan Jeffries has agreed to a two-year deal worth $3 million to stay with Sacramento.

Per reporting from Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee, the deal is guaranteed for the first year with a team option for the second.

Jeffries earned his deal after a strong 2019-20 campaign where he averaged 16.6 points and 6.9 rebounds with the Stockton Kings. The 23-year-old was on a two-way contract last season and appeared in six games with the big club and joined the Kings for their eight-game stint in the bubble.

Jeffries impressed with his hustle and tenacity in Orlando. His plus-2.5 net rating was second-best on Sacramento for any player who averaged more than 15 minutes per contest. The Kings performed better with Jeffries on the court, outscoring their opposition by 5.1 points per 100 possessions.

This is a depth signing by general manager Monte McNair, who has had a busy offseason so far. Sacramento got one of the steals of the 2020 NBA Draft when Iowa State’s Tyrese Haliburton fell to No. 12.

McNair made the tough decision to let restricted free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic go to the Atlanta Hawks, preserving future financial flexibility. The Kings also let Kent Bazemore, Alex Len and Harry Giles go in free agency.

Point guard De’Aaron Fox signed a max extension to stay with the club while the much-talked-about Buddy Hield trade has yet to transpire.
