The Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks have been two of the most vocal NBA franchises to bring awareness to racial injustice. The two teams combined to host the second annual Team Up for Change summit in Sacramento last season.

The third installment will be an even bigger event, with seven additional NBA and WNBA teams participating. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, Indiana Pacers and Fever, Dallas Mavericks and Wings, and Cleveland Cavaliers will also participate in the third summit, which will be a multi-day event running from Oct. 21 through Oct. 29.

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive released a statement about the mission of the teams:

The Kings were vocal when Stephon Clark was shot and killed by Sacramento Police in 2018, and have continued to push for equality. Both the Kings and Bucks received the 2020 NBA Inclusion Innovation Award, given to a program that pushes for inclusive practices within the community.

Sacramento players Harrison BarnesBogdan Bogdanovic, De’Aaron Fox, and Kyle Guy all took part in the Black Lives Matter protests in June following the death of George Floyd. The NBA continues to be the most prominent sports league when it comes to social justice issues, which has continued in the Orlando, Florida bubble.
