I only saw bits and pieces. Distracted by some boxing event between a 27 year old and a 58 year old, and my sick kids.
What I did see wasn’t really good basketball, until the 4th quarter.
But that 4th quarter was great.
Until they made that run they looked as cooked as a 50+ year old boxer, but they made it exciting.
Too bad they couldn’t put another exclamation mark on Fox’s great night.
The 4th was nice to see. Had some fight in them.
How can a coach be SO bad at lineups. Lyles clearly should start over len there…jesus lol
huerter with another spectacular minus 20+ while keon in the positive
MB not it
Lyles had 41 min. Len 9.
When your roster construction demands 50 minutes from those two, coaching ain’t the problem.
Mostly true. The main blame lies with Monte, but even so, Brown also makes some questionable decisions with the guys he does have. Len alongside Domas just didn’t work.
McLaughlin looked decent out there, but we get way too little contribution from the end of bench. Extra annoying when you see such guys flourish on other teams (most recent example: Jared McCain at Philly).
Brown doesn’t have the best depth, but I often look at the Heat and Spoelstra. They pull undratred guys, G-league guys, cast-offs, etc. and they just keep winning.
The roster doesn’t have depth, and that is on Monte. Brown does some oddball coaching when it comes to scheme and rotations, that’s on him.
Plenty of blame to go around. Still in a decent spot, but if the injuries linger, this team will be looking at 11-15 spot in the West.
Buddy Hield is putting up good numbers. We might need to get a new shooting guard. If we refuse to stop another team and simply try to shoot more than the other team he is good to go.
Good shooting guards? For what? Second round picks and a combo of Ellis and Len?
They don’t want to move Keegan. So what assets do the Kings really have? How about nutin but picks and scraps.
Not getting a quality SG for that. Maybe they should trade for Simons. He’s as good as history in Port. Move Fox to 2. Lol
Need 3s and 4s. Carter can play SG. Too many guards as is.
Actually Carter cannot play.
You’re depending on a rook to come in and start? Are the Kings the Heat now?
No. Ellis would/might start. But Carter is another SG. Along with Monk etc. too many already.
Kerr is the only coach to understand Hield’s strength. Don’t ask him to do much. Shoot and Kill it.
Keon has been worthy of starting but mb too stubborn
I like Keon but he was way too gunshy tonight. Passed up some good looks that really had me cursing.
I agree and I’m a big Keon supporter. Everyone but Fox looked gun shy and scared to shoot.
Been saying saying Huerter needs to go for 2 years now. Or come off the bench
The problem is. No one wants him and that contract. Shooting was his only strength. He’s a defensive sieve and now he can’t shoot either. Good Luck trying to unload that.
Smart GMs already have the intel on Kev.
True… exactly why they shoulda traded him before. Though I think he presents some trade value now. Held on too long. Plus, don’t love the trade in first place. He’s not a playoff player.
For the love of god, please trade Kev. Enough already. His value is up again…he is who he is and they need wings/4-
When Carter Comes back Huerter will be ever more useless.
Monte better have a plan to balance this roster…..but I think they feel it’s all good. That getting Carter and theat big back (?) is enough.
Typical. Kings wake up from the Taco Bell rush and nap. In the 4th.
Wolves won. But they have some serious issues. It took Star Edwards to get juiced in OT.
if the Wolves had a real starting pg they would be more dangerous
Glorious performance by Fox setting the franchise record! What a night for him!
Great game though I wish they had won. So close!
My biggest fear is that Domas looked like he threw out his back. He cam back in but you could see he was in pain. That he came back in the game was a testimony to his grit.
Is it true that if you lose, you win the NBA cup?
Tough L, you can be pretty good in the West and still be 10th or worse lol. Love to see Fox stretch it to 60, I don’t understand why Domas can’t score 30 or more if necessary. I think he needs to do more offensively. Kings just aren’t that athletic outside a few guys and small also, just not good enough overall. I prefer the Kerr strategy of playing lots of guys, not a big fan of MB overall at this point. Fun game but we need wins.
Still seems to come down to not shootng the 3 well or being able to stop the other team from shooting the 3 well. Minny shoots 41% from 3, Kings need Fox’s remarkable shooting night to make their 3pt percentage look non-disastrous. Take away Fox’s 6/10 3pt shooting and the rest of the team is 6/27 (22%).
Live by the 2, die by the 3!
6/27 YIKES. And one of those makes was an uncalled bank by Keegan.
You might not like it, but you are probably going to have to take your medicine and pay Fox. This team simply can’t generate offense without him. Maybe DDR can get you by for a year, and I don’t know what Fox would yield in a trade, but my assumption is it would be for youth and picks in a blow-it-up type move. Still a long season to see what happens, but this team has always relied on Fox to create offense.
Monk can also create offense…..
We just don’t have true point guard like T. Jones…
The unforced turnover by Ellis at the end of 4th Qtr regulation really hurts…
no idea why he just can’t be smarter, clam down, and wait for help, no need to rush to throw the ball away…
Really sad that we lost this tough game…
The best and worst of it. The best was Foxy tonight. The worst was the team couldn’t win the game for not the fans. not the team but for Fox. Late turnovers inept shooting by the rest of the team and coaching could not do it. Domas helped and Murray had a good game except when it really counted then air ball. Keegan is a good player but not sure if he would ever win a game in the clutch. Seems his 47 points in one game was it. Huerter, where was Huerter? Lyles, where was Lyles? Ellis, where was Ellis? Domas holds the ball way too much but in fairness in at least one play nobody moves. just stood there. Brown has to kick some ass in the locker room. Maybe he has already done that and it still doesn’t help. Monte for heavens sake make some moves.I would try and trade everyone not Fox, Sabonis, Derosan or Murray. Maybe he has already tried and nobody wants any of them. Kind of makes sense. I wished the team would have stepped up and won the game for Fox.OH Well!
Keon needs to let the 3 ball fly. He seems timid and unsure, often passing up good looks only to throw it someone else, ultimately putting them in a bad spot as the clock is winding down.
To be fair besides Fox they all looked like they did not want to take the shot.
It’s been a recurring issue for Keon. Like he was told, or he thinks, the ball needs to go to Domas, Fox, etc for shots. Just needs to shoot it. 3 and D, but not if he doesn’t shoot the 3!
lol! Trade for what? With what assets. What do you think you’re getting for Kev, Len, Ellis? Lol. Nothing.
Fox went off but didn’t get much help and seemed to gas at the end with good reason.
Seemed like nobody but Fox could hit a shot for large chunks of the game. His superhuman effort got wasted.
ANT was amazing in OT.
The Kings started the 2nd half horrible not running the offense and jacking up shots. IMO that is them at their worst.
Some of the calls were ridiculous. They let big hacks from MIN go several times and were calling touch fouls and flops for Gobert?!?!! Really?!?!!
MB tried to match up with length and it blew up in his face. Going small worked much better.
Going small will always be the better option for this current roster. They don’t have the bigs to match up with other team’ bigs.
I agree. Len is only good for spot mins to give Sabonis a break IMO. Lyles can play with Sabonis but he is a borderline big without real length.
The roster lack of length is their kryptonite. And they drafted another small guard….
MIN and NOP are examples of teams with length that make it glaring.
Anyone hear how Sabonis is doing? Can’t imagine his back (or whatever it is) will feel better the next day.
DDR?
Scheduled loss tonight vs UT?
I doubt Fox will be full strength after that effort.
