This game will be like watching
paint dryLos Angeles freeway traffic. All veteran starting 5 and who probably are all going to play 30+ min while guys who need minutes like Guy, James, Jeffries, and HG are gonna glued to the bench.
Walton postgame: “It learning experience was important to go out with a win learning experience to build momentum for next learning experience season.
The only logical reason…I hope… to play the vets, is to showcase them, to trade them. Any other reason… like saving Vlude’s jobs is just F’n sad.
Hot take incoming:
Bodgan has been the Kings best player in the Bubble.
Coming into today (and a hot start today):
18.6/4.3/4.1
44% on 7 3s per game
59.7 TS%
1.7 TO
Only Fox and Bogi showed up in this bubble. Everyone else should be on the trade block. I take Bogi over Buddy because he offers more than just shooting and I believe he’s going to be cheaper than the AAV Buddy got
With his RFA status and a league-wide cap crunch, a savvy GM could probably get re-sign him on a very team friendly deal. On a related note, the Kings don’t have a savvy GM.
Even if you wanted to flip him, it would probably worthwhile to sign him in these cap depressed days and look to the next trade deadline or offseason to move him when his deal will likely look even better.
Yep. The same rationale might apply to waiting to deal Hield, if that’s the route the organization wants to go, given his poor bubble performance (selling low) and his declining contract.
Maybe, though Heild’s contract isn’t below normal market the way Bogdan’s may theoretically be. That said, I don’t think teams trading for Buddy would be convinced one way or another by Hield’s bubble performance.
I just meant it may be easier to deal him next summer for a better return, not that his contract will turn into a net positive asset. You can substitute “disappointing season” for “poor bubble performance”.
I agree it may be harder to move him. But since the contract is signed and teams would have to match salaries anyway…
But I really don’t think this season impacted his value much. He’s pretty solidly established as an absolutely elite 3pt shooter. Even in this “disappointing” season, he’s still easily a top 10 shooter. I don’t think other teams had any delusions of him being much more than that.
Nah. They only showed up on offense.
Not even a hot take. That’s just the correct take.
A 40 point first quarter for the Lakers?
I’m furious that we are still playing the same guys.
Isn’t it time to see what we have in Corey Brewer?
Jabari actually looks like a good player when he hustles and plays with energy. Showing maturity as a player or showcasing for free agency?
Bogi 0-4 in 3 seconds.
That’s better.
Why isn’t G-man letting us know how many more points we need to put the game out of reach?
I want to know who gets the ball first in the fourth quarter.
I’ll admit, I’m only looking at the stats so far.
But F Walton, why in the world is BJelly and Barnes playing anything more than 15 min? The whole world knows it doesn’t matter if this game is a win or a loss. Let the bench guys play and see what they can do.
He’s trying to “save” his job.
Lol 25+ minutes for Bogi, Buddy, Bjelly, and Barnes. What a joke.
Hey, the last coach got fired for not playing the starters enough in the final game last season!
This was an important game to achieve growth.
Eh, it’s pretty meaningless however you allocate minutes in this game. Personally, I enjoyed watching Bogdan, Bjelica, and (surprisingly) Parker out there moving the ball and finding open shots. Even if it was against guys like Waiters. I suppose you could throw some more minutes at Guy and James, but they’re both low ceiling G-league fodder and you aren’t going to learn anything about them in 30 minutes in a meaningless last game.
