With 25.8% of the vote, Davion Mitchell takes the 14th spot on the Kings Herald Draft Board. He joins Kai Jones, Jalen Johnson, Zaire Williams, James Bouknight, Alperen Åengün, Franz Wagner, Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, Scottie Barnes, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley and Cade Cunningham.
When a choice comes up, pick who you’d want the Kings to pick given all the players remaining. Note: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is a draft board, a ranked list of prospects you’d like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we’d take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Monte McNair or anyone else would choose in a slot.
Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick’s choices.
This poll ends at 7 AM tomorrow. The next one will begin on Monday. Tomorrow will be the last vote before the final board is compiled on Wednesday.
This was tough. I took Keon, but if the Kings were a better team, I’d take Garuba & his defense, and take the necessary time to build his offensive game into something approaching decent, if not good. He’s going to be an absolute cornerstone to some team’s defense for years.
Can we see the breakdown on how the votes go after the draft is over? The top 4 or so were winning 40%, and now it’s down to 20’s.
Garuba. Take the defense and find ways for him to be effective offensively (transition, rolling, put backs, etc)
At this point in the board, I’m going with Kispert. He at least seems to be a surefire hit as a shooter in a league where that’s a premium. He seems to have defensive fundamentals down as well although I think he’ll struggle on that end for a bit in the NBA with the better athletes.
He seems the most likely to be able to be a rotation player pretty quickly into his career. Garuba is going to be a fun pick for some team in the mid to late teens, but he might take longer to be a contributor.
If Anthony Roberson and Mattisse Thybulle have a place in the league, then so does garuba.
An absolute grab-bag tier of players at this point. Keon, Jackson, Giddey, Kispert, Butler – they’re all probably going to be pretty good players. Just for the sake of diversity I wrote in Tre Mann here. I think he has a type of shiftiness and 3-level scoring ability which gives him top 10 potential in this draft. He’s a guy we could all look back on and be like ‘damn, how did we not see this guy coming?’ He’s an adequate defender and has a good frame that just needs some added mass. In terms of pure skill with the balls in his hands, though, he’s one of the best prospects in the draft.
I’ve seen a handful of rankings (not mock drafts, per se) that put Mann in the top ten. He’s an intriguing prospect, and may leave a lot of teams thinking exactly what you said.
Its between Duarte and Kispert. Went with Duarte, but either one would be good at this point. Both can really shoot. Duarte probably a little better defensively.
