The Sacramento Kings are waiving wing Juan Toscano-Anderson, according to multiple reports. JTA joined the Kings just a few weeks ago, on a one-year, partially-guaranteed contract. Had the Kings not waived him, the contract would have become fully guaranteed on January 10th. The news was first reported by James Ham, and confirmed by both Jason Anderson and Sean Cunningham
According to a league source, the Sacramento Kings are expected to waive Juan Toscano-Anderson tomorrow and drop back to 14 rostered players.

The Kings have opened a roster spot, as they will waive Juan Toscano-Anderson, league sources confirm. Jan. 10 is when contracts are guaranteed for the rest of the season. @James_HamNBA first with the news

JTA appeared in limited minutes for the Kings, mostly appearing in garbage time. In 19 total minutes across 8 games, Toscano-Anderson tallied a total of 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.
Making this move now opens up opportunities for the Kings as the trade deadline approaches. Having an extra roster spot allows the Kings to take on extra players without needing to waive another player first. If the Kings end up not needing the roster spot for trades, it also gives them a spot to promote Keon Ellis to the full roster, or to sign another player from the G League or free agency.
Gotta say, it’s pretty cool seeing how aggressive the Kings are at finding and assessing talent for the end of the roster. That 15th spot has been, what, 3-4 different guys this season already? One of these days I imagine it’ll pay off
It’s definitely how smart teams operate. Bring a guy in, see how he practices and meshes with your team. If it doesn’t work, it’s a low cost. If it does work, even just once, you land a cheap rotation player and improve your team.
Agreed.
I could be mistaken, but I believe this also coincides with teams now being able to sign 10-day contracts. It’s typically early January when that ability is afforded to teams.
Kings legend, almost on the level of Drew Gooden.
Do not besmirch the name of Drew Gooden, the only player to record a double double in every game played as a King
Davion survives another day.
We will have a Tuscan dinner in his honor. ????
watch a Wes Anderson film to complete the deal
