The Sacramento Kings continued its season of playing against San Antonio Spurs every day. And continued losing to the San Antonio Spurs. Sacramento fell 124-109 Friday at home. A good offensive performance (49% from the field, 46% from three and 33 assists) wasn’t enough to overcome the Kings defense. The Spurs scored 75 points in the first half and shot 50% from three for the game. The Spurs took 42 free throws (made 33) as Sacramento relied on the old if you can’t stop them then foul them defense.
Darius Acuff Jr. finished with 22 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals in 33 minutes. He was 9-20 from the field and 3-9 from three. Domantas Sabonis finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Doug Christie started Leaky Black. He played 40 minutes (!) and finished with 12 points, five assists and four made threes. He had the best +/- of the starters at -1. Zach LaVine led the game with a -26. Dylan Cardwell had 9 points and 2 rebounds in 15 minutes.
The Kings are now 1-8 with an offense that can put up points but doesn’t matter because the defense never steps on the floor.
Sacramento takes on the Miami Heat Sunday. Don’t worry though, the Spurs are back in town on Nov. 23 to continue this series beatdown.
