The Sacramento Kings waived Frank Kaminsky on Saturday. The news was first reported by The Athletic’s Shans Charania before being confirmed by the team.

Kings head coach Luke Walton discussed the decision on a call with the media, saying of Frank:
“We let Frank go today and he did everything that we asked him to and he’s an NBA player. He’s a really good player. A really good teammate, but we had one spot left and Glenn I thought did a really nice job of earning that spot. So we’re going to have Glenn on the roster and we’ll keep moving forward and just kind of wish and hope the best for Frank.”
“Ultimately, any more decisions will be made by the front office, but I would expect this being the roster going into the season.”
If the decision came down to Kaminsky or Glenn Robinson III, the Kings certainly made the right call. GR3 has played well for the Kings in preseason and provides less roster redundancy than keeping Kaminsky would have.
The last remaining unknown is the fate of Chimezie Metu.
There is no word yet on Chimezie Metu, but the Kings don't have an extra roster spot with Glenn Robinson III making the team.

The Kings have an available Two-Way contract and it seems logical that Metu would be offered that option. If Metu signs a Two-Way contract the Kings could play him up to 50 games this season.
We are officially not tanking!
Thank you! Nothing against Frank; I’m just tired of tanking, with the exception of Atari Combat which is never outdated and the real Frank the Tank who drinks beer bongs and goes streaking in movies.
TKH is desperate for ad sponsors lol.
I’m not hating it, but still. I clicked the ad, apparently the butt flap is officially called a Functional Buttoned Flap’.
nice holiday gift so your significant other can more easily and functionally take a dump.
Sorry to break it to you but the ads are tailored based on your cookie profile, not a direct contract between the product team and TKH. I’m not getting the same butt flap ads you are.
But it means something about you makes you a good candidate for that ad. I won’t speculate any further…
I can confirm. I see the same ad every time I’m here. I’m thinking of ordering 10 pairs.
Most people are getting the ad, I’ve texted with my Kings whatsapp group and they all get it.
my comment was a joke anyways, no need to take it personally or to take a personal shot at me.
have a good day
Was just having a laugh Napes, it wasn’t meant to be a personal shot at you. I don’t actually know anything about you. But apologies if you were offended, that wasn’t my intent.
If it helps to self-incriminate, I get ads for solar panels (cool) and how to connect with sexy 40+ ladies in my area (yikes). To be honest I’m a little jealous nobody wants to sell me butt flaps.
I get Carter Imports and Ella Olive Oil
Like JoeKing said…. I have been talking about some concrete “art” balls we are restoring. Not searching, just talking on the phone and with my wife. All of a sudden I am getting men’s grooming ads for… you guessed it…Balls, Scary!!
“I’m not searching for balls on the Internet”
Good luck Frank. Hope you land on another team real soon.
This is the right call. I think if Frank is going to be a successful stretch 5 he’s going to have to hit the three a little better than his career 34.7%. He didn’t do that here in his limited opportunity.
I prefer to keep Metu who looked good in his minutes, as was Robinson.
GR3 and Meto Played well enough to make the team. See how the 2nd one goes?
Great news! Metu has great potential, showed he has plenty of game in pre-season. I want us to invest in him, and watching Frank play basketball made my eyes bleed.
I would love for our GM to waive Bjelica and Joseph next and really stick the proverbial shiv into the new coach preferred lineups.
When we first hired the new GM, what is his name, McNair (?), I was totally unimpressed with his mind-numbing interviews, but since he drafted Haliburton and signed Whiteside, I am his #1 fan (for the time being, subject to change, of course)!
McNair is in an interesting position. He can set up his coach to succeed or fail, and setting him up for the latter may be in his own best interest to get his preferred coach on board.
I am convinced if the GM had his druthers, he would want Walton out yesterday. You cannot blame him, he wants to mold the team in his own vision, and this includes his own coach, not a lameduck carryover whose primary personality trait is apathy.
How might the GM get rid of the coach sooner than latter? It is simple, do not mandate, or even strongly suggest, him to do anything, do not express any preference for a preferred line-up or player.
You give him the rope to hang himself.
Then when the coach plays Bjelica and Joseph , our team flops under their inevitable ineptitude, the GM can go to the owner and make the case the young guys like Guy and Woodward were denied the opportunity to provide the spark they would have otherwise if the coach was not biased in favor of washed up veterans.
Now this plan goes up in smoke if Walton surprises us and goes with a youth movement.
If he wants to save his job, he should start this lineup:
PG Fox
SG Hali
SF Buddy
PF Barnes
C – Whiteside
Go small 1-4, put your shotblocker and rebounder in the middle, add playmaking with Hali who has already proved himself a great defender, then you bring in HIGH ENERGY off the bench:
Holmes
Bagley
Guy
Honestly I dont like anyone else on the roster enough to put them in the rotation. I like Metu but there is not minutes for him. If I was the coach of this team I would play these 8 guys, and I guess I would have put Robinson III in the game as a back-up wing bc we have nothing else.
It is pointless to play Bjelica even as a back-up wing. But like I said the GM needs to enable this, so he can justify why Walton needs to be replaced about 20 to 30 games into another lost season.
Welp that is the state of the team as I see it….and if you dont like that you don’t like Kings basketball!
Bjelly is a reliable stretch 4 on a cheap, expiring contract and Joseph is essentially on a 1 yr/$14 mil deal himself. Both those guys could be trade pieces for a contender needing some shooting or a backup defensive guard. Waiving them seems like a waste of assets imo. Worst case scenario is you play them as much or as little as you like until they leave next year since there’s nobody else in the market I’d give two roster spots to at this point.
We need to keep some relatively higher priced vets who still have some game in order to make trades work if nothing else. Otherwise your throwing minimum contracts and 2nd rounders which would gut the team of any young prospects to make the trades work. Morey was great at inflating rotation value vets so he’d have money to make trades work.
This is how I run my team in 2k. Not a solid recommendation.
(I get the butt flap ads too. I’m not sure that design is necessarily about going to the bathroom…)
Walton won’t save his job with that lineup. He’ll probably be fired 10 games into the season. You basically have one shooter on the floor. A rookie, who is really a role player, An overrated slow center, An overpaid Barnes, who will be a ghost 50 percent of the time, and then Fox. If you want to be one of the Bottom 5 in the league, I’ll definitely role with that lineup. So, In that case I am hoping that Walton and his papi hit the water bong nightly and make this happen.
Frank, we hardly knew ye.
Also, HEY EY EY EY.
Excuse me.
We only kind of wish the best for Frank…
#Metu
Not surprised. Kinda shitty for him to come out here for that to happen, but he’s got more money than me (probably) so there’s that. Agree with above that Bjelica and Joseph need to move on to greener pastures. Both decent players but not getting us anywhere. I’d rather their minutes be given to younger guys so they can develop. Liking Metu and hope we retain him via 2 way.
I’d like the Kings to pick up one of the better guys being waived recently, like Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
Also, with all the butt flapping we do in the comments, this sounds like an obvious sponsor.
Just want to share another news that……
Feels sad for Yogi, as he was waived by the Jazz……
That sucks. I like Yogi! Wish him the best finding another spot.
The NBA is, indeed, a business.
To be Frank, you’re not wrong.
The end of an era.
