The Sacramento Kings were able to end their six-game road trip on a high note on Monday, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 119-105 behind a career night from Tyrese Haliburton.
Haliburton, who’s started the last four games in place of Marvin Bagley III, scored a career-high 28 points on 11-15 shooting from the field and 4-5 shooting from behind the arc in 36:22. He also contributed two assists, a rebound, a steal, and a block.
Haliburton may only be starting because of Bagley’s injury right now, but with more nights like Monday, he may never leave the starting lineup again.
Remarkably, Haliburton wasn’t even the Kings’ leading scorer — that honor belonged to De’Aaron Fox, who scored 30 points on 13-23 shooting from the field and tallied six assists and two steals. You’d be hard pressed to take issue with way the Kings backcourt of the future played on Monday, especially in the fourth quarter, where they took turns burying the Cavaliers.

The Kings will look to carry that momentum into their game against the Atlanta Hawks, a team they’ve already lost to once this season, on Thursday, which is also the day of the NBA trade deadline.
