Sacramento Kings announce Terence Davis out 3 months after wrist surgery

Davis had successful surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Sacramento Kings announced Tuesday that Terence Davis underwent successful surgery to repair a wrist injury suffered in the team’s January 25th loss to the Boston Celtics.

Today, Sacramento Kings guard Terence Davis underwent successful surgery to repair a right wrist ECU tendon injury sustained on January 25 at Boston. The surgery was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Davis is expected to make a full recovery and will be reevaluated in approximately three months.

This injury means Davis’ season is over, as the Kings play their final regular season game on April 10th.

Unless the Kings make the playoffs.

Here’s hoping Davis has a full recovery and can return to a much different version of the Kings next season.

I’m going to comment as a kings fan who isn’t traumatized by this shit season, angry, apathetic, depressed and worn down to the bone.

I wish TD a swift recovery back to 100%, I’m a little bummed he won’t be healthy to take advantage of the hopeful likelihood that Buddy Buckets will no longer be on the team 10 days from now. However, I do see some convenient opportunities from this season ending injury that should open up an un impeded increase in minutes for our stand out rookie Mr. Off Night. This is a bonus that comes from the unfortunate injury to TD. Off Night should suck up all those extra developmental minutes that in my opinion he has earned. This also opens up opportunities for players like King in the G league to perhaps get called up to the big team and give our slow and low production general manager a chance to see how he does closing out this absolutely lost season.

Good call. I do like what Davis adds on both ends, and as an aggressive rebounder, so I hope he can make a full recovery.

Same for your ideas about Mitchell and King getting extra burn, I just hope we’ll see some overt indications of a tank, and give the kids all the minutes.

I do think Buddy will be gone.
His game is more similar to TD than either is to Mitchell.
Buddy and TD bring the possibility of instant offense, Mitchell does not.
The season is lost- and what once was “too many guards” might become too few guards.
There are no guards in G League. Ramsey is next man up and, frankly, he is not ready, and probably will not be ready. Lou King is more of a SF and he, too, is not ready. Unless either Ramsey or King pull a Jordan Poole like transformation, that is an open slot. Kings had 5 guards – now down to 3.
This season is an absolute disaster.
Good news- NOP won and Kings now in sole possession of the 5th spot, just above the “Great Bottom Tanking Four” who are so low that none can be caught. The 5th spot gives a 31% chance of a top 3 pick, I think.
The top 3 are pretty set- Banchero, Smith and Holmgren, the human pencil. Most of the next rated players are guards. Kings may end up with one of them but will that turn the team around? No !
I don’t believe that anyone outside of the top 3 can seriously alter a franchise. Of Cunningham, Green, Mobley, Barnes, Suggs, Giddy, Wagner and Kuminga, only Mobley and perhaps Barnes had a huge impact. Some- most actually- were good players but not huge impact on team success.
I despair. This injury might thwart needed moves.

So trade buddy and give his minutes and Davis’ to Ramsey. See what he can do with 25 minutes a night. At worst it helps the tank. At best they see if he can be a 9thbor 10th guy

If the Kings don’t move Buddy because TD’s injury has hurt the depth of the guard rotation, I’m gonna kick a puppy.

In all seriousness, injuries are why when a trade opportunity presents itself it’s wise to take it because you don’t know what tomorrow brings. If Monte is for some reason holding out on trades because he thinks he MIGHT get a better deal closer to the deadline, you could be playing with fire. Barnes, Holmes, Buddy, or anyone else is a rolled ankle away from being untradeable.

For those who don’t recall, that’s pretty much what happened with Rudy Gay’s tenure in Sac. The Kings sat on his expiring deal, knowing full well he wasn’t coming back, and he go injured a few weeks before the deadline. He ended up walking in the summer and the Kings had nothing to show for it.

Well, apparently there’s somebody on the bench who could play if he absolutely had to.

That’s what angered me so about what I heard recently about the kings rejecting the THT deal from LA. Hope it’s not true but that is so Kangz

That’s not a simple deal to pull off. It’s essentially a 4 for 1 deal. And I really don’t get what THT brings the Kings that’s an improvement.

THT is NOT an improvement. He shows flashes but is woefully inconsistent and the salary match would bring a bunch of dead wood. It may be possible to ship Buddy to LAL, get super future picks in return and involve a third team who would take most of the LAL dead wood and get the Kings a deadwood but expiring guy from somewhere else.

It is possible that a 3rd team gets involved. But that would have to include substantial money coming back to make a deal work. I guess I could scour the salary pages to see possibilities, but that’s not my job.

The Kings couldn’t have accepted the THT deal without a 3rd team being involved is really the point.

I take it back. A 4 for 1 deal wouldn’t quite be enough money to actually get a deal approved.

This deal was somebody talking shit in the media, nothing more.

The Ingles injury in Utah, Brook’s injury in Memphis, Murray (last year) and Porter in Denver, may open some desperate partners. The LAL would love to get Buddy but they had their chance and have no assets to trade right now. They may have a pick in 2032 or something. I suppose Kings could clean their future cupboard but that’s a long time to wait. and will get stuck with matching salary in the meantime. A third team to take THT ?
Teams are now signing extensions early, reducing free agency.
Is it possible to catch OKC? well Kings play them soon but SGA out for weeks.
This all sucks.

Whoa!? Was Ingles part of some package to come to Sac? I mean, I like Ingles, but I don’t see how he helps the Kings, especially considering what the Kings would have given up to a contender.

Seems like a “meh” move that really doesn’t move the needle for either team.

I was hoping like a week ago the kings could trade Barnes for Ingles (an expiring contract) and ideally Butler, a 21 y/o on the first year of his contract and would be reunited with Mitchell. I would of taken that deal but it’d need more maneuvering to make the money work

A wing who spreads the floor, talks a lot of shit, and this is important, would be off the books this summer.

That’ll move your needle!

Doesn’t fit Monte’s narrative of this being a “playoff team.” Barnes is the better shooter/floor spreader and player. I’d hope the Jazz would be sending a prospect (do they have any?) and/or a pick to go with Ingles. They would have had to send something to make numbers work.

In the end, the fact that he is now injured and that kills the deal makes me think he wasn’t coming to Sac. My money would be on it being a 3 team deal. Ingles likely had value to someone else, and I’m guessing it’s a contender. Kings may have been lined up to receive draft capital. Who knows, just spitballing.

Ingles on last year. A trade of Buddy for him frees Buddy money.

Get well TD. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Can’t wait to see you back in Sac with a new coach and a blank slate (never understood why you were removed from the rotation as soon as you got going).

We don’t have many fighters on this roster but he’s one of them. Not to say he’s a star by any means but we need more players with an edge like he has.

TD is my fav KIngs player. Plays Balzz out every game, always hungry, and wears his emotions on his sleeve. Hates losing and shows it. Love his mentality. He may not have the most talent on this roster. But, if we had 10 Killers like TD on this team, our W-L would look a lot different.
