Richaun Holmes has entered into health and safety protocols, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Sacramento Kings C Richaun Holmes has entered Covid protocols, sources tell ESPN. He’s averaged 12.6 points and 8.7 rebounds.

The Sacramento Kings had just gotten back to full strength for Friday’s game. Holmes had missed time with an eye injury, while multiple Kings players and Kings coach Alvin Gentry were in health and safety protocols. Holmes had been working himself back into form after his return from injury, and another setback like this must be frustrating.
The NBA recently shortened the required length of absence to five days, as long as testing benchmarks are met.
Beyond just the absence of Holmes, we’ll keep an eye out to see if this spreads to any other members of the team or staff.
We’ll hope Richaun is asymptomatic and has a speedy recovery. Get well soon, Richaun.
Hell of a way to kick off 2022.
I liked the “we will keep an eye out to see if this spreads” sentence.
Pun unintended undoubtedly.
In my cynical sarcastic view, what difference does it make. The Miami center Omar Y. will have his way no matter what.
Jimmy Butler- a butt head but a leader. Kings no butt heads and no leaders.
Robinson + Herro = 12 threes and Lowry =12 assists.
and a couple of guys no one has heard of will do well- Gabe Vincent who was once on Kings G league team
And Kyle Guy will hit six threes in the first half against his former team.
Heat tomorrow. Pencil that in as a loss.
Kings have 6 games in 8 days starting tomorrow. A good time to go on a significant losing streak. Destroy all chances to get that ridiculous play in.
Richaun is probably one of the few true trade assets on the team. Great contract. I love him, but you put him on table if you are trying to rebuild.
Give Damian a shot, give Quetta some minutes, and move on.
Be well, Richaun.
A speedy recovery to one of my favorite basketball players. Sorry you had to start the new year like this, Richaun.
Guess it’s time to buckle up for Pandemic Year #3, or as one writer put it, welcome to junior year of the end of the world.
Holmes has entered health and safety protocols, while Kings fans remain locked in an insane asylum.
It could always be worse.
It sounds like their players have a pulse and care. I’m not sure if any Kings player cares right now. I often wonder if the only thing they care about, is getting out of Sac.
Sadly, have to agree on that.
That sounds like Porter isn’t the kind of player I want. He quit on his team at halftime because he was playing poorly. This is the same kind of crap that got Porter kicked out of Cleveland.
This is a pretty dumb narrative you’re selling Adam. If Porter were on the Kings, you’d be killing them for picking up low character guys.
I’m not calling for Porter to the Kings, I’m just saying at least their team shows emotion. I think you are reading too much into what I said.
That screams punk, not emotion.
To be fair, punks are often punks because they can’t handle their emotions.
But yeah, I don’t think the Kings have the culture in place to deal with a guy like Porter.
True. I wasn’t elaborating on punk’dom in part because I don’t think it’s necessary. Either you know it or you don’t. But with the way Porter has now behaved for 2 franchises, I’m not sure many teams out there take a chance on the guy outside of a flier.
Culture matters, and some guys just kill your culture. Sadly, it seems Porter might be one of those guys. Wood possibly, too.
Maybe that’s what we need. 🙂
Ahahahahahaha. Well played.
Cousins on a ten day contract when Milwaukee gets tired of him?
All he needs is a few practices and the culture will be totally different in worse ways.
Porter probably doesn’t realize that his leaving actually helps his team.
I have circled the Rockets as a plausible Fox destination for awhile. That only comes more possible if Porter continues to seem like a doubtful core piece with Green.
I cant seem to figure out a trade in isolation. That said Wood could be a part, and I would love Sengun along with Tate as a piece of a larger trade. Maybe something with Phili for Simmons where they get Barnes and say Gordon and we get Simmons and something and they get Fox. Maybe Wood in combination and some protected picks. Not equal value right there but feels like a trade could be mustered with those three parties.
At this point, any time any player is out for any period of time, I’m like “so?”.
I like Holmes. I think he genuinely cares. Actually glad he gets to sit out the next few embarrassments and get time to heal.
He has had a rough season,
Holmes deserves to be with a better franchise ! One of the few !
Doesn’t matter anyway. Holmes can’t be traded until Jan 15th regardless.
Just keep on playing, NBA!
I hope Holmes, and all other players, will be okay and won’t suffer lasting effects. Especially those who signed a 10-day and got a (relative) pittance.
They’ll be fine.
My fandom is entering health and safety protocols!
You tested negative!
The team was hoping for a breakout season, instead they ended up with an outbreak season.
More fuel for the accidental tank!
I hate for anyone to test positive, but this could be prominent intel in the Kings actually embracing serious trade discussions and or veering from the idiotic and obsessive play in pursuit. They have a window of really making something out of this trade deadline considering the roster, market and years and contracts. A poor high end lottery record only supports taking that window of opportunity seriously. Hopefully such circumstances are acted upon.
